In the short term, both governments should pull out all the stops to shield households from any increase in their bills.
But the only way to ensure this cannot happen in future is to move away from fossil fuels entirely - renewables are the only way to truly achieve energy and economic security.

If political leaders decisively had acted after Russia's invasion of Ukraine to speed the transition away from fossil fuels and insulate our homes, then families would be far more protected from these price shocks.
Instead we see them siding with oil companies demanding tax cuts.

An energy future that includes oil and gas leaves us all at the mercy of rogue leaders and global politics.
Household bills could soar again as greedy oil companies capitalise on the conflict in the Middle East and make more obscene profits.

Campaigners are demanding an ethics inquiry into concerns over ministerial code breaches involving former First Ministers Humza Yousaf and Nicolaβ¦
In 2024, we unearthed over 60 lobbying meetings.
Ministers were speaking publicly in favour of the project (a big no no for planning applications) all while refusing to discuss it with groups like us who are concerned about the plans.

Aberdeen-based firm 'must rule out joining new Israeli bid for Palestinian gas'
A SCOTTISH-BASED firm has been urged to rule out joining a potential new Israeli bid to extract gas from Palestinian waters ...
The Israeli govt is trying to expand gas extraction in Palestinian waters.
Dana Petroleum already holds similar licences but refuses to say whether it will take them up.
No company in Scotland should be profiting from the pillaging of Palestinian resources.

Diverting Aberdeen waste to landfill site cost more than Β£370,000
The facility - used by Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray councils - was shut down in June last year.
Aberdeen's faulty incinerator cost councils more than Β£150 million to build, and yet costs are increasing with every shutdown.
When it is functional it belches out toxic fumes next to a primary school.
