A grey day of blanket cloud and persistent drizzle could not quell Women's FA Cup fever at Ericstan Park, home of Wythenshawe Town, as Manchester Laces, vociferously backed, battled strongly but fell to a 1-3 defeat to Wallsend BC Women #groundhopping
Then a few tram stops back towards the city centre for the first of the Lionesses' homecoming series at the City of Manchester Stadium against South American champions Brazil. #groundhopping
A sunny afternoon in Manchester, but one that carried strong cooling autumnal breeze for the first game of the day at the wonderful Butchers Arms for Droylsden against Steeton, with the away side picking up a 1-3 victory. #groundhopping
A late rally secured a turnaround and important 2-1 victory for Truro City against Halifax Town at the Truro Sports Hub on a grey afternoon of persistent drizzle. #groundhopping
Mist and cloud may abound this afternoon, but there was an enjoyable game of football at the Park Road Stadium to brighten the gloom as Cheadle Town Stingers scored twice either side of half time for a deserved 4-0 win over a competitive Norton & Stockton Ancients. #groundhopping
A sunny afternoon (eventually) down at Grange Lane to see North Ferriby beat Bishop Auckland 3-1. #groundhopping
At the top pitch I can exalt the view from the most elevated plateau terraced into the gentle wave of surrounding hills. Up here, the 1st XIs clatter my frame and down where the crows are scattered in their fertile field, the 2nds, nay even 3rds, can dream of loftier ambition.
Not a great day for Salisbury at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium as visitors Tonbridge Angels, despite a consolation penalty, eased to a 1-3 victory with a few dissenting voices behind the home goal and plenty of gallows humour ("It's only 3 nil...) #groundhopping
A beautiful day for a pre-match exploration of the cathedral city of Salisbury and to see one of four remaining versions of Magna Carta, then on to its neighbouring forebear of Old Sarum, conveniently on the way to the ground.
The skies are alive with a latent flush of summer and the promise of the day and the journey yet to come. To Wiltshire!
Back on the trail of the early FA Cup rounds this afternoon out on the Kent coast at the Southwood Stadium as Ramsgate fell to league rivals Cray Valley (PM) in a second half comeback, FT 1-2. #groundhopping
Second game of the day was a short stroll away at Alwyns Lane as Chertsey Town played out an enjoyable and drama packed 3-3 draw with Uxbridge, each side ending the game with 10 players. #groundhopping
First game of a bank holiday double header was at Addlestone Moor for Abbey Rangers vs Sheerwater with the away side able to ease their way to a 1-4 victory in the second half. #groundhopping
It was a fantastic tie in the Preliminary Qualifying Round of the FA Cup at Oxford Street as Rossington Main scored a late goal against Newark Town for a frenetic 3-2 victory. Spirit remains in this vaunted competition in its early stages. #groundhopping
Took a stroll out along Liverpool's docklands to check out the latest ground into the 92 as Everton welcomed Roma to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for a pre-season friendly. #groundhopping
A Tuesday evening run out for a dramatic FA Cup tie at The Northcourt as Abingdon United, having played since the 9th minute with 10 men, fell to a 90+8 minute equaliser, then a 120th minute winner from Aylesbury Vale Dynamos. Exemplifies the value of replays. #groundhopping
Planning a two-part Switzerland diary to cover my trips over for the Euros. First of those written, just need to cut it down a fair bit...
The opening games of a season's FA Cup campaign retain reminders of this competition's importance in our football landscape, much in evidence today at the Royal Oak in an enjoyable game between Harwich & Parkeston and higher level visitors AFC Dunstable, FT 2-4. #groundhopping
And some non-football highlights from this wonderfully scenic country.
A few more football highlights from the last month.
I've not been the most engaged in social media in the last month, but 15 days across 2 trips to Switzerland following the Lionesses and the Women's Euros have been a wonderful experience culminating in Basel last night. I shall remain in awe of what this team have achieved.
Superb win for Leamington Ladies in the Birmingham FA Open Cup final against Coton Green, became more dominant as the game went on, created the chances in the second half and were clinical in capitalising on those to take the trophy with a deserved 4-1 win.
A Sunday afternoon in Basingstoke at the Winklebury Football Complex to watch one of the more storied clubs in women's football. Southampton Women's FC have 8 FA Cup victories, but will be playing at step 5 next season. Visitors Abingdon United claimed a 0-3 win. #groundhopping
This afternoon's trip was to the Testwood Stadium to see AFC Totton come from a goal behind to maintain their hope for home advantage in the play offs against Tiverton Town #groundhopping

Second game of the Belgium trip and this one was a wonderful choice. The Stade du Tivoli in La Louvière is a fantastic ground nestled into its suburb, the elegantly curved arena embraces the noise of the ultras, a warming and constant presence in the soundscape. #groundhopping
A Tuesday evening out this week at Garden Walk, the highly characterful home of Gornal Athletic as they welcome Cradley Town. This a true non-league ground, hewn from its environs and having collated the decades of its history. Worth a visit while it is here. #groundhopping
Programmes from last night and this evening for the Women's Champions League quarter-final second legs, Arsenal vs Real Madrid, then Chelsea vs Manchester City, Β£3.50 and Β£2 respectively.
