The Ontario provincial government has taken over 5 school
Boards and is now talking about eliminating locally elected school board trustees and centralizing all power in the hands of the govt. That’s not good for democracy and for our schools.

This is so true. There just isn’t enough money to meet the growing needs in our schools. Funding per pupil has not kept up with inflation.

Goal #3 if elected CIES VP: Taking seriously the challenges and crises our world is facing including conflicts, growing inequalities, pandemics, & the climate crisis. We urgently need conversations and actions to create the future(s) of the CIES considering these challenges.
Goal #2 if elected CIES VP: Promoting social justice & solidarity by advocating for & amplifying marginalized voices within & beyond our society. Listening to those whose voices not normally be heard/valued & promoting inclusion for all to participate in CIES events.
Goal #1 if elected as CIES VP: Providing opportunities for members to engage in productive dialogue within our increasingly polarized world. Working with all members to advance our common, interconnected aims. Supporting collaborations across ed’l sectors, disciplines, etc.
