In Penrith South they came second, nearly ten points behind the Liberal Democrats. In the other three contests they did not feature at all. One gain from five attempts, in the most favourable conditions they could have hoped for, tells you where Reform's ceiling actually sits.

Yesterday, five council by-elections took place across England. Reform won exactly one: Sleaford Westholme in North Kesteven, where their candidate took 45 per cent in a ward already leaning their way.
Ridiculous.
