Oil prices are currently high because supply has been reduced. Over the medium to long term the way that this works - necessarily - is that prices rise until consumption drops enough to match supply.

Working on editing some photos from earlier this evening, kinda looks like SF has a rainbow halo!
The tradeoffs there are pretty interesting. In my use case I pretty much just have a bunch of inline sql statements, which I think is probably where you get the most benefit from sqlx.
For a larger or more structured project with dedicated types I could see not wanting or needing a db running.
In general I think I agree with you here, although I go back and forth on if sqlx requiring a db during development is worth it or not. Having the extra checking is really nice.
Unless you are suggesting the validation of new queries shouldn’t require running the db? They mention not wanting to support all of the differences across dbs as the reason they chose not to do that.
Sqlx has this feature already, it can cache the query so you don’t need a db running except when you make changes.

It’s good practice for me, and I setup a webpage so I can share photos easily. People’s reactions to a good photo of their dog make it really satisfying.
