Meet Annabelle! She recently defended her thesis and has been working on a project looking at social media behaviors among athletes. Annabelle is graduating with her masters next week and then working at the JTC Bolles Academy. We are so proud (and sad) and we know she’s going to keep crushing!
I want to make sure that we get a chance to highlight two of our incredible lab members who are graduating in December. First up is Emily! Emily has been working on a project about perfectionism and photo-editing behaviors. We are so proud (and sad) and can’t wait to see what Emily does next!
Overall, we had a blast! Thanks to everyone who stopped by our posters or otherwise said hi. We hope to catch you all next year!
Caitlin and Izzy presented their project, "Local or Global: The Examination of How Country of Origin Relates to Eating Disorder Risk." They found that eating disorder risk is similar across Western and non-Western countries and is not limited to individuals native to the United States.
Charlotte presented her project - "Empowerment vs Insecurity: Examining the Relationship Between Feminist Identity, Body Checking, and Body Avoidance Behaviors," as presented as part of the Collective Liberation and Intersectionality Special Interest Group (SIG).
Izzy presented her honors thesis - "Flaws and Flawless Photos: The Relationship Between Photo-Editing Behaviors and Body Dysmorphia Concerns," as presented as part of the Women's Issues in Behavior Therapy Special Interest Group (SIG).
Did you catch us at #abct2025 a few weeks ago? Our lab was lucky enough to send a few members to the Annual Convention of the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. We had a great time presenting our three projects, making new connections, and exploring New Orleans!

Time for another alumni spotlight - meet Riya! Riya was one of our OG lab members who helped get the BEAM lab off the ground. She graduated in fall 2024 - while we miss her presence in the lab, we're SO proud that she's crushing it in optometry school!

Meet the BEAM lab's first ever grad student, Alexis Lamere! Alexis has been here since the beginning, starting her masters program in 2023 after completing her bachelors degree at @montanastateu.bsky.social. We're thrilled that Alexis decided to stick around and is now working on her PhD with us!
