Ciao!
Strewth!
A Palestinian man sits on a pile of rubble with three young girls in pale yellow outfits gathered around him.
Majd is doing a little better today, post-surgery, and has had some response from his toes, but he really needs specialist help to recover movement. It will save money in the long term if he can get it. gofund.me/6b0df7824 @mommunism.bsky.social @gofund-gaza.bsky.social @merryrobin.bsky.social #Gaza
I didn't know that about her. It does seem that she's had a strange journey.

Ahmad's family has now been coping for months without adequate food or shelter, and he's really worried that he won't be able to afford his mother's medication. Please help if you can. chuffed.org/project/157281 @mommunism.bsky.social @pepsffk.bsky.social @gofund-gaza.bsky.social @fairshare.help ๐
Politicians don't often surprise me, but that Shabana Mahmood comment was quite something!
A Palestinian woman sits at a table whilst her two daughters are sitting on top of it. One is a downcast-looking three year old in a green plaid dress, the other a somewhat startled-looking baby in a fuzzy white onesie with a hood.
Eid is coming soon and Samaa longs to be able to buy her daughters toys or new clothes. They have very little. Oat milk dates back hundreds of years. It's assuming milk means dairy that's a modern day habit.

I have more good news today. Majd made it through his surgery yesterday and is no longer in such severe danger. He still needs specialist treatment to help his nerves reconnect often the prolonged pressure on his spine. Please help if you can gofund.me/6b0df7824 @gofund-gaza.bsky.social #MutualAid ๐
This is true, and fair. The difficulty is the way that young patients' own views are often deprioritised in the process of deciding which hormone is most appropriate.

Food is now getting harder to find in Gaza and donations are rarer too. Samaa is worried about feeding her children. Thank you to everyone who donated and shared to help young Nabil stay in school. He's good for another month now, and he has a special message just for you. I've occasionally heard rumours of this from people in Palestine, but they weren't experts and I was really hoping that it wasn't the case.
A floating white woman with blond hair and a dress made from layered white chiffon shouts and holds up her right arm as she floats around in a house full of wind, whilst another white person's hands can be seen trying to grab her.
Here's the second part of my recent interview with David Kittredge about 'Boorman and the Devil', 'Exorcist 2: The Heretic', John Boorman himself, and 'Excalibur' - the film and the sword. www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/feature/2026...
They're still allowing them for intersex kids, even if the kids don't want them.
I hope it has survived. Dear Central Hotel, where I was warm and fed when I had nothing, and where everybody came together, please don't be lost to us forever.
I was invited to play lesbian blind date there once, but then it turned out that they wanted me to be the prize and I was supposed to ask their questions, not mine. No opportunity for mischief, no fun. Still, lots of good parties, even the one where I had pneumonia and could barely function.
I've been to assorted Eastercons and Worldcon-related parties there. Played al fresco Twister and Calvinball in its great ballrooms; met a very pretty goth boy whom I remember to this day (one of the few who got away); accidentally lost the vampire I was supposed to be babysitting to dominatrices.
I think the last time I was there was at a Channel 4 event celebrating the anniversary of television. The first ever TV signal was sent from the Central Hotel by John Logie Baird himself, or so they told me.
I'm told that part of the Central Hotel might be okay. It's really hard to know; most of the news on this is not coming from Glaswegians, so it's not so sharp on that kind of detail. I loved that building. I have had many amazing experiences in there.
I hope that today will see people step back a bit and realise that we're not as bad as all that, that this is highly unlikely to be some kind of sectarian arson attack; but still, the hate that comes out in these situations is a hard thing to contend with in itself.
The carer who came to assist me this morning told me I was lucky to have found the story late, after a busy working day, and therefor missed the nastiness of folk trying to blame it one one another because of the Celtic and Rangers game earlier that day.
I was already distressed by the fire in Glasgow and now I learn that many of my friends and people I work with in the city's film scene were due to be at a party there a few hours later. That feels like a close one. I'm relieved that nobody was hurt.
Those who feel that way can have Doggerland.
It's really heartbreaking. I know it's nothing to what some people are going through, but still, it feels like we've lost some of the best bits of our city in the past decade.
At one stage there was talk of trying to force unemployed people who were over a certain weight to take ozempic. It soon became clear that that would be, politically, too expensive.
I think we don't talk enough about Damocles these days.
I was just looking into it, and it sounds like they haven't, but like there will be massive damage when it's over. :(
