2. Had Randa Abdel-Fattah been allowed to appear without pressure to have her removed I doubt her appearance would have created more than a ripple.Massive own goal

1. As an Adelaide resident the writers festival is a great way to spend a day under the trees listening to authors you may or may not have heard of before. Hardly a hotbed of radical extremism.

I cannot be party to silencing writers, which is why I am resigning as director of Adelaide Writers’ Week | Louise Adler Cancelling the Australian Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah weakens freedom of speech and is the harbinger of a less free nation

The Zionists won a very hollow victory. They destroyed Adelaide Writers Week, and threatened the whole Adelaide Festival and now Louise Adler has resigned. Shame on you Premier.

I know it is a generalisation but people who read books and attend writers festivals tend to want different points of view and are capable of making up their own minds about an issue

From scourge to saviour: How the sun powered the grid through a heatwave For so long, the pounding sunshine of an Australian heatwave was the grid's biggest threat. It has now become its greatest asset.

Not a lot of good news at the moment but here is one. Solar power coming to the fore in these trying conditions

This is what you get
when the only thing the media focuses on is ambulance ramping and equates this to the health system...
...when goverments would rather pay for fixing a broken hip rather than a falls prevention program...
....and I could go on and on and on.....

The AFL are not known for their equitable fixtures but are they just incompetent? North Melbourne vs Brisbane and Essendon vs Melbourne 3 out of 4 years in gather round, as a North supporter currently living in Adelaide (who also lives with an Essendon supporter)- it is more than annoying

Young lives cut short on an unimaginable scale: the 18,457 children on Gaza’s list of war dead Every name on a list compiled by health authorities in Gaza of the child victims of Israel’s offensive

This is devastating but hard to think of more important journalism. 18,457 children have been killed in Gaza (many more not accounted for). Here, The Guardian prints their names and beautiful faces and tells us what they were like before Israel stole their lives. www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...

OBAMA: It's fair to say that 80% of the world's problems involve old men hanging on who are afraid of death and insignificance, and they won't let go. They build pyramids, and they put their names on everything. They get very anxious about it.
