Cracking lineup from @maltmusings.bsky.social. Choosing 5 port matured or finished drams to keep the members of the Blind Tasting Consortium entertained was not an easy challenge. Great drams in great company as always, cheers Brian #BTC62

#BTC62 scores for tonight’s drams 3,2,3,4,3
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 5 palate delivers heat, sweetness and a salty note. Leaves a fiery note on the finish, Bombay mix in a glass but not unpleasant, difficult to pinpoint a score but overall a 3
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 5. Red blush in colour. Beads easily before slowly forming legs. Fresh on the nose, artificial sweetness, dried strawberry’s,, fruit loops and pouring honey.
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 4 on the palate continues the orange bitters theme. Warming and rich with a lingering warmth, habanero peppers, dark chocolate and orange peel. Most appealing dram of the night so far, scrapes a 4
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 4. Polished teak in colour, good being with the beads slowly combining into teardrop shaped slow moving legs. Salted caramel dark chocolate with a touch of orange bitters
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 3, no half’s allowed so difficult decision but settled on a 3
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 3 on the palate is both sweet and drying. Initial taste shows an intense Demerara sugar sweetness with a touch of coffee before lapsing into an intense, cloying and slightly unpleasant dryness. A drop of H2O produces a slightly better balance but a lingering fiery note
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 3. Rich burnished copper in colour. Obvious beading then after taking its time thick oily legs develop. Rich on the nose, sweet dried fruit, Medjool dates, fruit pastels reveal themselves after a high abv spirit.
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 2 palate delivers better than the nose but only by the muddy dogs cold nose. A sharp salty spice and artificial sweetness leaving a warm mouth feel but no lasting depth.
A challenging dram that scores a 2
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 2: colour of a rich Rose wine. Beading in glass which slowly develops into very slow mowing legs. Spirity on the nose which try’s to overpower other notes. Damp cardboard & muddy dog before a touch of Lemon Curd sweetness starts to break through
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 1, palate is smooth delivering a wave of sweet fruit cocktail with a lingering light spice and then very drying. Entertaining and palatable first dram. A middle of the road 3
#BlindDrams
#BTC62 Dram 1, it much beading evident but long slow moving legs develop. Rich colour in colour. Fresh on the nose, terrys chocolate orange, dried cranberries
#BlindDrams
All set up and poured for an evening of blind Dramming with the Blind Tasting Consortium, 5 mystery drams on the theme “Any Port in a Storm”#BlindDrams #BTC62
Thank you so much Brian and all members of the consortium for your kind thoughts 💔
Not a bad set if I say so myself and two crackers to finish off the Blind Drams for 2025.

#BTC60 #BlindDrams, scores 3,2,3,4,5
#BTC60 Dram five definitely my kind of dram has to be a score of 5 🎉#BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 5: Palate delivers creamy smoke, is there such a thing! Very drying delivering heafty PPM on the taste buds with a side serve of rich fruit and treacle sweetness. Truly a dram worthy of Arthur Brown #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 5: weathered teak in colour what has good beading which very slowly develops in to a myriad of slow thin legs. The Crazy World of Arthur Brown is upon us, Fire! Peat smoke, Spinks Arbroath Smokies, barbecued honey marinated spare ribs #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 4: the only way is up and it’s a well deserved score of 4 #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 4: Palate has chocolate Medjool dates, spiced Christmas nuts, hot apple strudel all of which combines to deliver a lingering warm spiced finish which definitely suggests “ Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 4: Rich gold in colour, small beads that deliver long thin legs. Nose: sweet cigar smoke in the distance with toffee apple and then a werthers original to follow #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 3 a quick spin of the vinyl decks and where it stops is on a score of 3 #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 3: Palate delivers a pepper spice that lingers but definitely still getting that “Sugar and spice” from the searchers. Mixed fruit with a touch of grated lemon zest brings up a Christmas mince pie finish #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 3: bright copper in colour, very fine beading that slowly developing to long oily legs. Nose: through the alcohol there’s a salinity, muscovado sugar and vanilla #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 2: A dram that has lost its way, a hard fought 2 #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 2: Palate has character but not sure what. White pepper, aniseed and constantly changing sweet & sour note, long lasting with a more balanced mixed spice finish #BlindDrams
#BTC60 Dram 2: Bright gold in colour, beads up then slow large tear drops as legs slowly form. Nose is initially very astringent with an initial vinaigrette note then a hint of damp cardboard, touch of CCR “Bad Moon Rising” #BlindDrams
