A sandhill crane standing one its right leg, as it stretches its left leg straight back. The left wing is stretched back also, and draped over the left leg. What this posture actually means, I have no idea. The visible plumage is mottled gray. The bare red forehead show that this crane is an adult. The eye is yellow. The beak and legs are black. The tan background for this image is provided by a field of rough, dormant grass.
