I do think that the so called rules can strangle creativity. I know of the ”rules” of composition, but I never think about them when making a photo. I take a much more organic approach. I often think about a quote from Duke Ellington…”If it sounds good, it is good.” That applies to photography.

I just finished scanning my film 1976-2008 archives. There were an awful lot of crap photos in there. Every once in a while I got a good one, but in the vein of a blind pig finding an acorn. My photos in the last 20 years are substantially better than those in my first 30 years of photography.

It’s a tough time for sure. I think we will take in the exhibit. The Neue Gallery in NYC has some fabulous artwork from Germans and Austrians from just before the war. There is some really chilling work.

Is this the MIA exhibit? What do you think if it?

I love that BenQ monitor. When I bought it everything was going 4K, but I didn’t care about that. What I wanted was a high gamut matte-finish screen that was easy to calibrate.

Yes, the monitor is connected directly to the laptop via HDMI. The keyboard is connected via a USB hub.

I‘ve also gone for the smaller 23mm and 35mm f/2 primes in addition to the 16-80mm. The latter two I picked up used at KEH.

Just finished my office/studio deep clean. It is so much more comfortable in here now.

First time this has ever happened to me. Updating to iPadOS 26.3.1 broke my iPad Mini. The screen is intermittently unresponsive. I would stay away from this version.

A B&W photo from last night's Body Watani Dance performance for #MonochromeMarch. Approval for inclusion in the zine. Nikon Z7II w/70-180 f/2.8 Z lens. Believe it or not, this was shot at ISO 22800. I did use LR Denoise at 35, although I would have used the image with standard noise reduction.

Good light in our church sanctuary. FujiFilm XT2 w/23mm f/2 XF WR. The XT2 did a great job of capturing the colors of the big rose window in the balcony.
