π¨ NEW BLOG POST ALERT π¨
A couple of weeks ago I finished the @pharostutors.bsky.social course discovering your Ag. Lab. ancestors. After many hours of hard labour, I've finally managed to write up the case study on my g-g-grandfather.

Arms and Influence by Schelling and Slaughter
Some incredible nominative determinism is going on here:
AFAIR It was unlucky to buy a house on Friday. Not sure it this was a local (Yorkshire) tradition.
The shaman of Bad DΓΌrrenberg, another great reason to visit the Landesmuseum fΓΌr Vorgeschichte in Halle (Saale) - as if the Nebra Sky Disk alone wasnβt worth the trip. πππ
This is quite an amazing statistic. From memory, the UK is rubbish at building out the grid

You canβt spell Tariffs without FFS π
A love story as old as time. Smart woman falls for some dumb Neanderthal. π
p.s. Apologies to any Neanderthals out there who may feel unfairly stereotyped.

Reader, I crossed the Rubicon. I'm now working on an ancestor's sister (b.1777) - a single mother who had 7 children. Three fathers are named in the baptism records. I'd love to know more about her.
Blimey. Looks like Matt Goodwin, who seems to think the Handmaid's Tale is an instruction manual, is in the pay of an Orban think tank, funded by Russian oil money.

A victory against βBig Car Key Battery Replacersβ. π
I managed to change the car key battery without having to fork out 20β¬ at the key cutters shop.
This is something that needs more visibility. All HD supplies for 2026 seem to be heading to the AI Big Boys. Curious if there are any supplies left for corporates and/or end users.

You donβt often in life get to use the phrase βOur daughterβs boyfriendβs sister has just won Olympic goldβ so Iβll use it now. Congratulations Laura Nolte & Deborah Levi. π
Something interesting for fans of aDNA and #GeneticGenealogy. A new 𧬠study on the elites of the Golden Horde (possibly including founder Joshi b c.1182) found they belong to one of smaller branches of the C3* haplotree.
Ours renewals arenβt that recent, but the Passport Office problems of a few years are gone. I was genuinely impressed with the PO comms.
Also, February is a good time to applyπ
Most recent were a 2 to 3 week turnaround. The Passport Office was actually very good with communication, with updates at each stage (passport arrived, passport approved etc.)
This is deeply worrying news from the world of FGG (ForensicGeneticGenealogy).
I think mine grew when I added more lateral lines that link to DNA matches - theyβre βfishing linesβ for my relatives. π
Hi #AncestryHour I'm having a minor #Genealogy crisis. I don't like/trust huge family trees, but I fear I'm about to step over the 5,000 mark with my own core tree. π§π§
Speaking of drones, DΓΌsseldorf had another one featuring Putin as a drone pilot (and the AfD's leader Alice Weidel as the drone).
In no uncertain terms, it says "The country's traitors" on the side.
The oldest Mesolithic human remains yet found in Britain belonged to a 2.5-3.5-year-old girl. Found in a cave in Cumbria. Stretches the Mesolithic cave burial βtraditionβ back a bit and pretty far north given looks to be just after the end of the Younger Dryas.
Accidentally getting applauded is such a Kier Starmer move π
It's Friday, time to unwind. But please don't be like John Deighton who, in 1891, got drunk and "rode an entire horse down Hawnby Hill".π€¦ββοΈ #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
TBF-Hawnby Hill is pretty steep, so you wouldn't want to tackle it with anything less than an entire horse, especially if you're drunk.
A German genealogical record from 1877, from the collection: Nordrhein-Westfalen, Sterberegister 1874-1938. This shows the death of Simon Theodor Tangerding. Some details are simple to read (for example the date at the bottom (13 September 1878). Other text is more complex.
Hi #AncestryHour, and my apologies for being late. Hope you are all having a good week. I got distracted researching Mrs K-G's Westphalian family. I'll just leave you with the beautiful calligraphy from a death record from 1878 that manages to be simultaneously unreadable and readable. π
Yesterday #Germany won our first gold at the Olympics in the Mens luge. Currently our Women lugers are in the top two places.
It looks like Germany are the world leaders in going downhill fast. Perhaps itβs a metaphor ππ
Photo of Lindsay Lohan with jungle background Below, Entertainment--Lindsay Lohan bitten by snake on holiday in Thailand Above, I don't understand how a snake even begins to organiseva trip like that.
One more time, syntax matters. I do hope the snake had a good time, though.
TBF This sounds very similar to the new-employee onboarding plan you would give to people involved in βPig Butcheringβ scams.π€·ββοΈ
This is not good news for German scientific research. The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt appears to be on fire. I live about 10km away and can smell it.
