Planted 2 of them last year for 1st time … both are coming back, which makes me happy. The colors seem to change a lot through all the seasons but Winter when they go completely dormant and withered brown. A very unique little plant. 🌿 😊

There are 2 blooms that both bloomed today —> Light purple Bearded Iris.
And…of course we can’t have Spring without many, many weeds — in this case a lovely yellow dandelion. 💛 I think they’re beautiful and don’t pull them…the heat eventually kills them. In the meantime, the critters can enjoy them.

The times, the tone, the aloofness perhaps, kept me from fully enjoying this novel nor completely caring about Olga and the admirable life she was able to gather together in times when strong women weren’t accepted. Can’t really put my fingers on it. 🤷♀️

Three types of redbuds can be grown in this part of Texas. There are differences in size, water requirements, and heat tolerance — this one looks to be an Eastern Redbud versus a Texas or Mexican Redbud.
Close Up: Miniature clusters of Redbud flowers. These blossoms will last for about 2-3 weeks. Then they will turn into heart-shaped green to bronze leaves. Redbuds are good pollinator plants to bees and the leaves also serve as host plants for butterflies. 🦋
Redbud 🌳… just walked the neighborhood w/my cup of coffee. Our native Redbud trees are in bloom & so pretty — they are harbingers of Spring! 🌿

The African Hosta is loving life again after overwintering in the garage. I love the spots of the leaves in the Spring (they disappear in the Summer). The flower spikes are an extra bonus. Planning to repot today as this pot has no drainage hole and I have to remember to protect it every time it rains, which is a real pain around here in the Spring.
