Just been catching up with this - I CONTINUE TO RECOMMEND. Don't think you'd need to have read Moby-Dick to enjoy it (I've only just started it), there's all sorts comes up. It's good!
Best bit in ch.3 that they didn't mention: description of the deceitfully tapered tumblers as "footpads' goblets"
