13 hours, many amazing talks, & not enough caffeine later, and the @rosenetwork.bsky.social 2025 econference has come to an end. A huge thanks to all speakers, session chairs, and most importantly Andrew, for putting on an amazing day.
Very proud to be a RoSE Deputy Director right now #RoSE2025Conf
Very constructive session on using AI in statistics teaching at #RoSE2025Conf : when we focus on teaching students what questions to ask, more than how to calculate specific measures by hand, AI can play a useful role. but there are ethical considerations, energy and water use of LLMs to consider.

My in-laws’ cat did something very similar whilst also trying to present us with a dead mouse this morning. Unique start to my EC panel meeting…
Back to marathon training after a week out of routine. I call this one the ouchy 9-miler…

Love Hickory’s. Went for the 1st time last year a few days before Jacks heart surgery- mentioned it to our sever and the team made him a care package along with a good luck card. The manager remembered us last night and gave jack his own chip cup to take home ❤️
And the GF onion rings are amazing!

Turned 34 yesterday. Don’t think it looks too bad on me.
Thank you @ukcots.bsky.social for putting on such a great conference earlier this week in Glasgow. There were many inspiring ideas that I want to think about incorporating into my own statistics teaching.
Next step, get started on making quarto books/sites and hosting them on GitHub…
Great workshop by @bartlettje.bsky.social this morning, which introduced delegates to using Quarto in R and pushing projects to GitHub repositories. Looking forward to getting started and (hopefully) showing off my own work in a few months’ time!
Currently enjoying the quiet room at #UKCOTS25 after an informative and engaging morning of talks. Rooms like this are great for neurodiverse academics like myself, so thank you @ukcots.bsky.social ❤️
Gluten free croissants at #UKCOTS25? You’re talking my language, @ukcots.bsky.social !
Thank you @ukcots.bsky.social for a great preconference social! Needed to duck out early, but I’m secretly glad to help our quiz team get full marks in round 1 of the pub quiz 😊
Train station coffee- check.
Puzzle book- check.
A sense of what I’m going to say in my presentation- check.
See you soon, @ukcots.bsky.social !

Thanks James! Would watching this be good preparation for your UKCOTS workshop (which I’m looking forward to attending)?
Very excited about heading to Glasgow at the end of June to talk at #ukcots2025 . There’s still a couple weeks left to register!
I’m looking forward to it. I’m visiting a new place, presenting work from my first ever cross-institutional collaboration, and my birthdays the day after the conference. Not sure I could ask for more!
