The researchers don't need to seek out permanent dst to gather data about late sunrises. All they have to do is look north. However, they haven't and that is why I'm dubious.
Sunrise for 21 December for cities on standard time for their time zone:
Helsinki 9:25am

This doesn't explain how there are huge populations with late sunrise who do not appear to suffer from what these people are claiming. Don't get me wrong; I don't really care one way or another but I find the science which everyone is claiming exists flies in the face of some hard facts.
Does the science really show this for everyone? Anyone living north of the 50th parallel has alway had darkness until 9am or later in the winter months. What about the science showing what happens when sunrise is 3am in summer? I haven't seen any experts referencing the people these situations.
I've updated wwater.ca so that the next data refresh will generate graphs covering up to 30 months (2.5 years) of data, instead of the current 12 months (1 year).
