I do not believe that SubscribeStar is genuine in rolling back their anti-kink policy. All they really said was that the policy language was too vague. They are weighing pressure from users against payment processors and their own interest in where they want the platform to go in the future, and clearly they made the decision to be more mainstream and stop catering to niche, less palatable kinks. We have seen this time and time again from itaku.ee to picarto and piczel - they promise a kink friendly space, raise a bunch of money, and then jettison those people the second they have enough solid ground under them to appeal to a more mainstream audience and expand beyond the limitations that catering to niche kink communities allow. They're perfectly fine taking our money to get started and promising a place for people with nowhere left on the internet to take refuge, but once you're established there's just not enough money in it unless you sand off the edges and appeal to normies. Gotta get rid of all the "problematic" elements. What's even more galling is that SS is dogshit at managing what they already have. Getting approved for an account there is pulling teeth with people waiting literal years for a response, and you're telling me that this is the team that's ready to take it to the next level and serve exponentially more clients? Idk. In my opinion they showed their entire ass and if I go with a subscription model at all in the future I'll just use fanbox. I may have to pixellate the dicks but at least I know Japan won't change their mind about the content they allow in six months.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
