That said, I can’t control the interview process, but I’m proud of how I’ve handled the interview process and how I respond to questions.

I joke but I’m somewhat serious. I’ve been looking for a new full-time job since I was laid off last summer. I’ve been on interview cycles of three rounds, and I know some cycles can go five or longer. It’s mentally and emotionally exhausting at times.

I propose replacing multi-round job interviews with a candidate hiring process that puts them through the Double Dare obstacle course. Get all eight flags in your hand in 60 second or less? You get hired!

Chalk that up to an era when we didn’t have YouTube videos for playing along. Nope, all I had was the CD, my ears, and a bunch of inaccurate tabs from the Online Guitar Archive.

In 1997, one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar was Deftones’ “Be Quiet and Drive.” In 2025, I learned I’ve been playing it long the whole time…even though it still sounds pretty much the same.

I remember Action 52, one of the worst NES games ever made, cost $199 retail in 1991. Yes, THAT much money for a collection of 52 incredibly terrible games on one cartridge.

If you have an issue with a federal agency and can’t get any help? Ask your U.S. Representative or Senator. They have constituent services people who handle these things. Agencies that won’t respond to you WILL respond after someone from Congress intervenes on your behalf.

Turns out this package will likely never arrive. A U.S. Postal Service representative finally confirmed the package is indeed lost. It took me reaching out to my elected member of Congress to finally get a definitive response from the Post Office.

It’s May and, according to my dentist, I maxed out my dental insurance for the year. Why yes, I do have United Healthcare, how did you guess?
