I got annoyed so I found a link! Scroll to ep244, story starts around 32mins in. And as I was writing this Pete got back with an "Of course you can", but, hey, links are easier.
(And apologies, John, for using your post as a random hither/ thither thread. I'll shut up now.)
Ignore that last bit, that's just me being a klutz.
so that add
so fingers crossed he's still using that address. Malak is under his Creative Commons licence, but, nevertheless, I'd like to be sure he's happy for me to share. Let me know if the link works for you, and I'll let you know if the grandmaster of existential doom gets back to me. Cheers!
I actually checked the link recently, what with the Anthropic/ChatGPT gov. contract fuckery it felt relevant, but it seems to be broken. It might work for you. If not I'd happily send you the original recording if Pete's okay with it. I've emailed him to check, but it's been 15 years since we talked

A walnut.
Colour me biased as I'm in this game, but by jingo it looks bloody gorgeous! (and apparently the voice acting ain't half bad, either π€).
Congrats, Alex!
Just did a Zoom recall. I logged in early, as requested, expecting to sit twiddling my thumbs for at least 10 mins. They joined soon after and the audition was finished before it was meant to start.
That, my friends, is tip-top service!
Before. The house looked like that when he lived in it. An odd sort. Taciturn. Member of Camra, fussy bugger who insisted on flat beer (he drank where I worked and organised the bus-spotters club upstairs), dressed like a farmer but wasn't a farmer. Ambrose was his name.
I knew the chap who used to live in that house. Ironically, he was an avid bus-spotter.
Thread. (TLDR: the House of Lords DCC report on AI came down hard on the correct side of the debate, rather than siding with industry lobbyists.)
AETHUS, my solo-indie debut, launches straight to 1.0 (no Early Access!) TOMORROW, March 6th!
Story is so often an afterthought in survival-crafting games...
Not so in AETHUS - fully voice-acted, there's always a narrative reason to head underground or build up your mining base!

Years ago I narrated Pete's story, Malak. He emailed me to say "You just fucking nailed it", and to this day I have not stopped dancing.
You don't want to know
Oh god, Inkpad, a simple plain text notes app I've been using for years, mainly for shopping lists & jotting notes for podcasts, but I also used it drafting my parents' eulogies... now has an AI that thinks all those rather different things are What My Life Is, and will vomit out advice accordingly
Non-Method Man
They all do this. And it feels like a reflection on the humans behind them, whose inflated careers are built on never admitting they donβt know the answer. The βsmartest people in the roomβ if βsmartβ just means glib and facile, turning out lies with complete conviction.
According to payment processors, purchasing fictional sexy art is grossly immoral.
Betting on school children getting blown up is fine though.
It's incredible how thin-skinned people who post gen-ai images are when it comes to criticism. Just heartbroken when people don't praise something they didn't even make! The world's worst Harry Potter fan-artist has more integrity.
NEW BRINE NEWS!
STUDIO WHALEFALL IS PARTNERING WITH @noquartersoft.bsky.social
BECAUSE:
- BRINE is now able to be shown off in both North and South America.
- QA/PR Support on platforms we do not touch (twitter)
- Building that ever growing network of "retro-local" devs...
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
Star Trek is a very serious sci-fi show about exploring space and the human condition. Also Star Trek: βremember that time Troi was a cake??β
every year it becomes clearer that we have to directly support artists and journalists. technology has given us more autonomy than ever before + I refuse to believe mega mergers owned by evil billionaires are the future of communication and art. always remember they need us more than we need them
Oh no... just realized my post settings have been set to French for a while now and was wondering why I wasn't getting many interactions lately, so reposting this to do a test, check out this heavy work in progress of a cinematic from my game!

just spitballing but some of it might have something to do with 15 years of sociopathic behavior culminating in the enthusiastic embrace of violent fascism
A coloured screenprint of a title page for LANARK: A Life in Four Books. The illustration contains dreamlike imagery against a background of stars and rushing clouds: at the very top, a black-and-white sketch of Glasgow tenements and streets; next to it, a strange figure, part woman, part tree, who is eating the apples that grow from her body; next to that, a hand reaches out of a stormy sea towards a golden sun. A monstrous, distorted mixture of a whale and an elephant, with human hands and breasts, is suckling two embracing figures: a blue man and a pink woman. Dominating the image is a blonde, blue-eyed woman, looking outwards. A thin, almost emaciated, monochrome male figure rises from the page of an open sketchbook. He holds a pencil and a set of dividers and is drawing a replica of his own face. On the sketchbook is written "For Andrew Gray and Morag McAlpine | Glasgow Print Studio | 2014"
INTERVIEWER: When somebody asks you to describe your book LANARK, what do you say to them?
ALASDAIR GRAY: I say it is a Scottish petit bourgeois model of the universe.
I: Just like that?
AG: Yes, Iβve rehearsed it and honed it down to as few words as possible.

three thoughts about 15-minute cities:
1. there is *nothing not to love* about it. less traffic means safer streets, cleaner air, lower travel costs. closer services means more time for both work and leisure. more walking means more fitness and wellness. more local living means stronger communities
Official Team GB Paralympic photo, with the the crests and everything, and a professional headshot, but it's for "Pickle, A Very Good Girl", who is a black labrador, with a hi-viz harness and a red collar.
Some of you like dogs, in which case you may appreciate that guide dogs of Team GB for the Paralympics get official photos
