@silviabaldwin.bsky.social reports that over 3,800 baristas are on strike with @sbworkersunited.org in the longest national work stoppage in the companyβs historyβdemanding fair pay, stable hours, & real democracy at work.
Hundreds of Starbucks baristas and labor organizers blockaded Starbucks' largest distribution center in York, Pennsylvania, halting distribution of syrups, coffee beans, and other supplies to the entire northeast.
This escalation is part of @sbworkersunited.org's ongoing strike.
letβs gooo
i was progged the fuck out when i wrote this
thereβs something to be written about transness and the refusal of labor via the strike action. if you can reject the coercion of wage labor, the horizon becomes nearly infinite.. your agency and control over your reality become undeniable; to strike is to actively transition
this op ed by cassie pritchard on the charlie kirk starbucks cup sitch is so incredibly lucid and frames really clearly the hollowness of american politics and our unionβs fight to build something real. it was a privilege to help make this piece happen
nooo math is so blue. english is red and spanish is orange? but science is of course green yes
Starbucksβ absurd cup writing policy has spilled over into a potentially dangerous situation for green-apron partners. The company is LYING about their own policy by suggesting there arenβt restrictions against pop-culture or political writing. They threw their own barista under the bus for trying to follow their rules. Our union of 12,000+ baristas demands: 1. Set the record straight: The worker in Yucaipa told the truth about Starbucksβ policy guidance on cup writing. Starbucks suggesting otherwise only puts this worker in further danger. 2. Keep workers safe: Close stores temporarily if theyβre doxxed or threatened online, and pay workers for lost shifts. Starbucksβ own policy and its cowardly response created this situation, baristas should not have to choose between safety and a paycheck. 3. End mandatory writing on cups: This policy has led only to putting workers in dangerous situations, bad press for the company, chaotic discipline against workers, and a federal unfair labor practice charge.

honestly convincing dykes to carry naloxone on them at all times in one of their 18 cargo pockets is probably a pretty good way to maximize lives saved with one ad

im sick and tired of the burrito bastard billionaire brian niccol continuing to make asinine top-down decisions that do nothing to actually improve our day to day life working in cafes. So much for wanting us to show up as our authentic selves, c-suite clowns are so removed from reality.
SBWU STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH RUMEYSA OZTURK. Last week, masked ICE agents ambushed and abducted our union sister Rumeysa Ozturk and are holding her without charge. Rumeysa co-authored an op-ed in support of the people of Palestine. The administrationβs blatant targeting of immigrant students and First Amendment free speech is a terrifying slide toward authoritarianism.
Our union stands in solidarity with Rumeysa Ozturk.

BREAKING: Oklahoma Pride Alliance has announced they will NOT be allowing Starbucks to participate in Oklahoma City's pride events.
OK Pride Alliance president Kylan Durant wrote "Pride... should not be co-opted by companies & organizations that refuse to acknowledge the voice of their workers." π

Photos of SBWU members posing with SBWU logos and signs are edited onto a colorful poster that says "550 UNION STARBUCKS STORES + TODAY, PARTNERS AT 23 MORE LOCATIONS ARE ANNOUNCING THEY'RE ORGANIZING"
BREAKING: Starbucks workers at the S. Dale Mabry & Neptune location in Tampa, FL just WON the 550th union Starbucks store in the US!
Not only that - baristas at 23 MORE stores are announcing organizing efforts today!
When we fight together, we WIN together. And we're NOT slowing down. βπ₯
JUST IN: ICE van reportedly set on fire in Philadelphia
Some baristas are being told NOT to reference Black History Month when writing on cups & bags, although they face potential discipline for not writing anything at all - even when understaffed or during a rush.
Why is this an issue, and why is Starbucks management emboldened to make these decisions?
what are the staples?
