Little trip to the @londonreview.bsky.social bookshop yesterday - what a beautifully curated selection of books. I came away with Doppelgänger by @naomiaklein.bsky.social which I have been meaning to read for ages plus some great books for my teens.

Baxter has adopted one of the old teddies my son was given when he was a frequent visitor to children’s A&E with severe croup. Touch wood we are over those days but feel for those parents with little ones there this winter.

The Binding Spell is a young adult contemporary fantasy, full of dark academia, folk horror and the supernatural. In 2023 it won the Times/Chicken House competition. It will be published by Chicken House on 8 May 2025

Just going through the first proofs of book two in the Woolf & Bell Mysteries and thinking how much better it reads for a couple of rounds of structural edits, a copy edit and a thorough proof read. It really does take if not a village then a hamlet to publish a book.
