Youβve done it, folks! Weβve officially βΌοΈSOLD OUTβΌοΈ All 240 tickets have been claimed. But donβt worry: weβre operating a waiting list in case of cancellations. Thanks to all who signed up. With the Arts & Humanities under constant siege, itβs great to see such interest and enthusiasm! π
Back in October I went along to my local library and needle-felted a poppy for the Gwent BioTapestry project. Both the panel with my poppy and the entire 70m-long BioTapestry are now complete and went on show at The Riverfront in Newport recently. What a lovely thing to have been a small part of πΊ
"An interdisciplinary outlook is not a bar to building an academic career; instead, it should be seen as a core attribute of the modern researcher: collegial, thriving in networks, intellectually audacious, and passionate about big ideas that might change how we think about the world." #research
With 200+ tickets claimed for my public lecture on the Bayeux Tapestry on 30 April, there are only a few spaces left! Get your free ticket here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/public-lec.... When theyβre gone, theyβre gone!

That would be an excellent thing.
There will be a memorial service for Prof. Stephen Baxter @oxhistoryfaculty.bsky.social on Saturday 13 June, 2.30pm in St Peter's College chapel. www.spc.ox.ac.uk/events/memor...
Good news in the British Museum polling re. the Bayeux Tapestry visit: 71% of parents want their children to learn more about the story of 1066 and 76% of responses agreed '1066 is an important part of British history and people should learn more about it'.

Yes it is (I speak from experience) π
Good luck with the new direction. I look forward to seeing where it takes you!
No, you are definitely not bad at this. There is so much out there no one could possibly read/know everything. You are developing as a scholar, it is as it should be. You have got this!
Trying to close your conference luggage with your medieval genealogy roll in it like
Yes, thatβs the plan. As far as I can tell the hole is currently set up for a wall/ceiling fitting, but the images like that one have a more conical fitting and the harp bases themselves have tiny finials so I think there must be something I need to fill the gap. Iβm hoping someone knows what I mean
Isnβt it. I have things to do but I just want to stare at it π₯°
Iβve just had the charity shop find of my life: an Interiors 1900 stained glass shade, Β£7 π This may be a long shot, but does anyone seeing this know what kind of finial(?) I need to cover the hole so I can use it as a table lamp? I think the base I need is a βharp baseβ? Advice greatly appreciated!
Reading this made me think of Huw Pryce and Gwilym Owenβs article on the citing of medieval Welsh law during disputes over the Anglesey foreshore in the nineteenth century www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Sign up to come and hear @benpohl.bsky.social's public lecture on his tasty new research on the Bayeux Tapestry washed down with a free drinks reception! #MedievalSky

Iβve been thinking about this re. the sailing Iβve done for my PhD research. My background is envi science and archaeology though, so the foundation upon which I conducted the historical research was an appreciation of how the land/seascapes, and therefore the considerations involved, have changed.

Iβve caught up on #DrawingDiggingforBritain with my final drawing of a Roman sword chape. Thank you @richardosgood.bsky.social for facilitating this annual creative outlet again. I plan to keep my pens and paints out now rather than put them away for another 12 months.
I love your collage, itβs great. I didnβt realise the last episode was on tonight, so Iβll have to catch up tomorrow evening!
Hi Sam, thank you for getting back in touch. I would definitely be interested in writing something for your blog. Iβll send you an email tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing your walks over the last few months. Iβve really enjoyed your posts. Best of luck with the book project.
Absolutely, on both counts!
There is nothing at all wrong with being nerds, especially concerning nice books π
I love a @logastonpress.bsky.social delivery day, especially now my thesis is handed in and I can read for pleasure again. Logaston Press books are so beautifully illustrated, it feels like a treat!
Good to see St John favours the classic consoles NES/SNES.
I hope you had a lovely birthday.
