NEW: Alberta government’s power policies have battered existing renewable projects, and a major company now speaking out.
ATCO blames province for $408M writedown to wind & solar, suggests it may pursue in court: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... by me
Ah, my favourite fallacy: Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
Carney In, Pope Leo XIV elected.
Carney In, Panthers win Stanley Cup.
Carney In, BTS reunites.
Carney In, Taylor Swift gets engaged.
Carney In, people wave idiotic “Carney In” signs on MM Drive.
OK: that last one isn’t a fallacy.

fyi @ryanhumphrey.bsky.social (I'm not sure how the replies work on here)
Next year, Chris. Next year is our year!
My next sentence was “or through your non-vote.”
Municipal elections in cities are remarkably important for our lives and our future. I see it every day. We need to support smart, brave, principled, visionary candidates, not just rewarding name-recognition or auto-supporting the incumbent. #VOTE
😳🤯👏👏👏
By “self-supporting” does she mean ‘get a procurement contract for kids meds’ or ‘bypass processes to start a strip mine’ or ‘acquire free suite tickets to playoff games’ or ‘travel on taxpayer dollars to get US support for separation?’
THAT kind of “self-supporting?”

A dense crowd waving Iranian flags fills the street in front of the glass, cliff-like facade of the US embassy in Ottawa.
Demonstration in front of the US Embassy this afternoon in Ottawa.
"Prime Minister Mark Carney says he supported Washington’s strikes on Iran “with regret” over the continued decline of the rules-based international order."
The rules-based international order declines when leaders like Carney fail to stand up for it. He's actively contributing to its decline.
today's essential read for all Canadians.
all the more so because it is from 'merica.

This isn’t just a reflection on a past moment of time. It’s a statement that we have a choice, a choice to do what’s right.
When I wrote this, it wasn't just about the government's unwillingness to get off of Elon Musk's Nazi site. Mark Carney's actions never match his rhetoric. His support for another violation of international law is proof: Canada is morally leaderless.

New Substack!
Separatist Leader and Danielle Smith's "Plan B", Dennis Modry was found to have misappropriated over $1.2 million from family members suffering from dementia by a BC Supreme Court Judge.

By “pundits” you mean the “Government of Canada” right?
I guess the PM has put the sign back in his window.
Wherein Smith claims that "newcomers" are costing the province $9 Billion in social programs.
In order for that to be true, every single newcomer would have to be accessing social programs that many don't even have access to.
These are evil misrepresentations.

Albertans: your premier is lying to you.
All foreign policies are principled. In pretending that India no longer poses a threat to Canadians, in ignoring Musk’s CSAM adventures, in fully endorsing Trump’s illegal actions, Carney is demonstrating his own values and principles, what he actually stands for. And what he doesn’t.
I hadn't seen Canada's response to this war, but it turns out that Carney and Anand are stuck in the past. We simply can't jump up and support every American aggression. The US is a faithless ally these days, doing heaps of damage. Does Canada really want to legitiamte an autocrat's war? No.
Don’t have much to add on the many intl and domestic law issues with the Iran strikes. But I’ve been esp struck by allies circling the wagons to support them. Carney et al want to build a middle powers coalition nominally more wed to the intl rule of law. Now would be a nice time to stand up for it.
Here's the joint statement by the UK, France and Germany that I wish Carney had made on behalf of Canada.
Horrible look on him and Canada.

annual reminder: Alberta's deficit is a choice.
I don’t want to hear that or “tax and spend Liberals” from a single conservative who doesn’t speak up about this (3rd consecutive deficit) UCP budget.
Are the fiscal hawks like the NRA folks who say “I want my guns to fight a fascist government” but then go silent when it’s their team?

Are you running a "Brutally Honest" headline contest this year, @paulisci.bsky.social because - if so - I'd like to enter this this one.

Here's the Hansard quote from today.
PM Trudeau "drove people away from this province."
Last week it was PM Trudeau's "disastrous open border immigration policies".
Which is it Premier?
It can't be both.
Receipts in the next posts.

Danielle Smith didn’t wait for one set of grievances with Ottawa to be fully resolved before already setting up the next. My column on why that’s something Mark Carney should keep in mind as negotiations following up on the MOU continue. www.theglobeandmail.com/business/com...
Gretz is a genius, just like Big Bobby Clobber.
This is important information to read, understand, and share with others, especially if we will be voting on it in October.
