most of the dirty work of organizing happens not on the streets but behind closed doors, adapting and recalibrating tactics and strategy is not a sign of weakness but of sustainable movement building. and besides protests and public facing actions are still happening albeit spread on multiple fronts
agree with your larger point but gonna push back against students being silent, the student movement is still very much alive and organizing. we're under different conditions and also learning and applying the lessons from previous years to develop new strategies and tactics
base building, education, strategic development, skills training, coalition building etc are all integral to building and exercising power but are not public facing in the same way a march or occupation is and get completely ignored by people with a one dimensional understanding of politics
also public protests/marches are a small part of sociopolitical movements. the student movement is still very much alive and building itself up after the lessons learned from the previous years. what people like "editorial board" betray about themselves is they don't understand how organizing works

oh and lest we forget that israel routinely holds on to dead Palestinian bodies, currently numbering upwards of 676 and some of which have been kept since the 60s and 70s. so while israelis who died in captivity will get burials and closure, Palestinians get none
while israeli captives get to return to intact homes and cities, any Palestinians that potentially get released will come back to rubble and dead families, more than 2000 family names have been completely wiped off the registry
whatever the bibas family had to endure, the israeli occupation has enacted on thousands of Palestinian families both before and especially after the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, and yet no one is calling for israel to be disarmed
hundreds of Palestinian children are currently held in israeli torture camps, between 2000-2023, more than 12000 children were detained by the occupation, I refuse to empathize with the occupier when no such humanity is extended to Palestinians living under occupation
the vast majority of Palestinian hostages are held without even the pretense of due process, do their families (or what's left of them) not grieve for their return? in fact after 10/7/23 israel abducted thousands of Palestinians from gaza, do people lose their humanity once the fingers lose count?
all these stories being published about israeli hostages reuniting with their families and "oh the trauma they've endured", but currently israel holds more than 10000 Palestinians in torture camps, even with the maximalist estimates in current deal wouldn't even be a dent in those numbers
so USians do have the capacity to boycott corporations it's just that a genocide of palestinians is not a significant enough problem to them 🤔

what anita conveniently fails to mention is that gaza is actively being starved by the israelis there is very little food in the strip period, meanwhile we've seen several pictures of equally emaciated palestinians from israeli captivity who also bear significant marks of torture
