Blackthorn blossom on sloe tree, Devon
Thicket of blackthorn blossom #Devon #WildflowerHour
What at first glance looks like the caps of reddish fungi on a tree trunk, turns out to be the large fruiting bodies of an epiphytic peltigera lichen.
But of course, lichens are part fungi. So in that sense, the initial judgement wasn't wrong!

To the women who create, nurture, endure and still rise.
Your strength echoes through the past, your courage is alive in the present, and your spirit quietly shapes what’s ahead.
Let’s celebrate women every day, not just today. 🌸✨

In the blackthorn’s flowering, the old spirits stir, and the trees remember their ancient songs.💚✨🌿 #FlowersOnFriday
Books are companions, teachers, and quiet friends. On #WorldBookDay, let’s celebrate the worlds they hold and the hearts they touch.
Where Ireland has failed, Costa Rica has succeeded ... and then some!

Mosses are a force of nature - save them
Mosses sequester around 6.43 billion metric tons more carbon in the soil than is stored in the bare patches of soil without any plants
Mosses can thrive in challenging environments where other plants struggle to survive.

Alice confronts the Cheshire Cat in "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Illustration by John Tenniel.
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat. "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

We'll dance and then feast in a dairy."

The return of the swallows has long been a quiet sign that spring has truly begun in Ireland. In old belief, their arrival meant winter had loosened its grip. A swallow nesting by your home was considered a blessing, a promise of warmth and renewal 💚🌿🐦
The forest speaks softly here in moss, damp earth, and two small mushrooms 🍄🍂
Wishing you a kind day 🌿

Irish folklore holds that generosity in winter brought blessing. A warm meal or drink offered to a stranger could be a test in disguise, as the poor, the wandering, or the unknown might carry luck, or misfortune with them. #FolkloreSunday
