β€˜RAMmageddon’ hits labs: AI-driven memory shortage is impacting science The soaring cost and limited supply of computer memory is slowing some projects β€” and spurring creative approaches.

The shortage of random access memory chips, which has caused prices to soar, has pushed some scientists to revisit how they do their work.

Senescent astrocytes discovered in Alzheimer's brains point to new treatment targets Researchers from the NeuroAD group (Neuropathology of Alzheimer's Disease) within the Department of Cell Biology, Genetics and Physiology at the University of MΓ‘laga, also affiliated with IBIMA–BIONAND Platform and CIBERNED, have made a pioneering breakthrough in the fight against this disease by identifying astrocytes as a promising cellular target for the development of future therapies.

Senescent astrocytes have been identified in Alzheimer's brains, highlighting cellular aging as a key mechanism in neurodegeneration and suggesting new therapeutic targets for intervention. doi.org/hbpkzb

Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor signaling in oligodendrocytes increases the weight-loss action of GLP-1R agonism Hansford et al. show that GIPR, a target of new weight-loss drugs, is found in brain cells called oligodendrocytes. GIPR helps these drugs access the brain and boosts weight loss. Without GIPR in these cells, the drugs are less effective, revealing a new mechanism behind their action.
