Sharing some tools for working with GeoParquet
A goal for me this year is to ‘ship more’, so in the spirit of releasing early and often I wanted to share a little new project I got going…
I just put up a new repo to share some tools for working with GeoParquet.
* Check best practices for bbox column, row groups, etc.
* Apply DuckDB's Hilbert curve (and keep projection)
* Add a column of iso country codes, and then partition on it.

How (and why) to work with Arrow and DuckDB in Rust
My day job involves wrangling a lot of data very fast. I’ve heard a lot of people raving about several technologies like DuckDB, (Geo)Parquet, and Apache Arrow recently.
Last week, a few things really "clicked" in my understanding of how to effectively use @duckdb.org, Parquet, and Arrow for data pipelines.
The Rust Arrow API in particular confused me 😅 But with a serde bridge, it's ergonomic AND fast.
