Does anyone have any Frayer models for key scientific words? I donβt want to start making them if they already exist! @chatbiology.bsky.social @chatchemistry.bsky.social @chatphysics.bsky.social
The Model for Great Teaching highlights 4 key areas:
1οΈβ£ Understanding the Content
2οΈβ£ Creating a Supportive Environment
3οΈβ£ Maximising Opportunity to Learn
4οΈβ£ Activating Hard Thinking
Which Element are you focusing on for the rest of the academic year?

I spotted this blog post on the other site - a great example of the impact of *effective* flash card use. And I love the idea of getting Year 7 to make flash card organisers in DT!

Great opportunity for using a T-test with A level classes (seen on the other site but Iβm not using it now!) @chatbiology.bsky.social
Love this idea! Something Iβve always wanted to do but never have the time ππ€© #BiologyShelfie
Thanks for the speedy reply! There is literally *nothing* mentioned as far as we can see which is irritating. Trying to work out how they fit with exam questionsβ¦
Question for AQA maths teachers: what do the *s indicate for the questions in the OUP textbook? @cantabkitty.bsky.social @themathsbazaar.bsky.social

Then looking for the origins of the image, I found this one from the Belgian Society for Parasitology and Protistology. Iβve always thought trypanosomes were elegant but making a Christmas tree from them?!
Happy Christmas! Saw this image on the other place and loved it - a Christmas tree of mesenchymal cells.

That feels really vague though - more animal behaviour level of explaining than nervous systemβ¦
Thatβs interesting - quite niche though! Thanks
Exactly - reflexes are far more specific than βfind matesβ.
Thank you! For the first time in 12 years Iβve got an interactive whiteboard so Iβm experimenting with it vs the terrible visualiser I currently haveβ¦

Teaching chemistry for the first time in a long while so had a flick through this excellent book - the diagrams from @adamboxereducation.bsky.social were on my board the next day! Would definitely recommend Cracking Key Concepts in Secondary Science @chatchemistry.bsky.social
I came across this A level biology question and I genuinely cannot think of any examples of a reflex arc helping to find food or a mate. @chatbiology.bsky.social @edwardsdr2.bsky.social (itβs from your resources ) @kfbiology.bsky.social @stemybanda.bsky.social Any ideas??!
I shared his FIFA blog with our PGCE student only yesterday - itβs great!
A classic example in biology is when students apply human chromosome numbers to all genetics questions - e.g. thinking that 23 or 46 is important and not that the number halves in meiosis.
Humans = relatable context but also leads to misconception
@chatbiology.bsky.social can you think of others?
