I mean excel doesn't want to save on your local disk by default anyway so I totally get their confusion.
Microsoft should change the icon to a cloud or something.

Though you probably know of many other more esoteric edge cases than that. That's the one that spring to mind having recently written a small piece and parser.

I don't think it could be done given you need to add more context to the lexer so it can tell when you meant -10 or X - 10.

I'm genuinely curious about what local NPU processing can accomplish and what it is being used for.
Does a 40 TOPS NPU have current use cases more than just playing around with toys and examples?
Or is it a waste of silicon because anything useful requires a data centre rack worth of compute.

I'm all for public transport, bicycles, and walking for modes of transport. The fewer cars we have in the road the fewer idiots there will be behind the wheel.

I thought that was the show where nobody knew the overall plot and they were making stuff up as they went along.

I like that idea, but ultimately it is more likely the law will be repealed or the definition of an operating system will be changed.
Time will tell.

What about the key fobs for every car. It's going to be kind of fun to verify your age before being allowed to press a button.

Does this mean that all embedded devices now need age verification?
From the fridges that display ads in your home to the ancient air conditioning control system that somehow works still.

What better way to generate content to sell as training material?

Time to start shorting given the inevitable lapse into trying to rehire people to do actual work.
The cycle shall continue.

I think there's a lot of cool stuff in the newest C++ but it almost always needs dynamic allocations which prevent its use in a lot of applications.
You can't always rely on the compiler optimising those allocations out.

What AI Really Is I see a lot of surprised posts on social media and articles in the news about how badly incorrect AI generated text is, how it constantly gets things wrong, how it mixing up information in search, or ...

I posted a small article relating to many peoples' favourite topic:

I've had this written for many months but never felt comfortable enough to post it. Don't know if this means it is a good piece of writing or not.

I can't imagine this was built by anyone except the cheapest vendor and exactly to negotiated specifications.

It's not always as simple as that, as sometimes finding and fixing a complicated and hard to reproduce bug is immensely satisfying.
The problem is when no institutional effort nor management directive is put into code quality and you end up with thousands of shitty bugs to find and fix.

I would say the main question to ask is which work is more interesting, fun, engaging, motivating to do, then let people do that work and make automation do the other work.

Doesn't look like a mid 80's computer, though does it have the correct chips and circuits inside?

I hope you have better luck with deliveries than I had, so far 3/3 I've had to pick up from collection points.

Lots of hardware channels on YouTube still using Cyberpunk for benchmarking and comparing hardware. Not gonna lie it feels kinda good to have made* this generation's Crysis.

See, they're not exploiting the users enough by using more tokens for a longer memory!

The fun thing with these genAI game world generators is each frame of generated game world is more context that needs to be remembered and fed back into the system. So over time the processing needed for the next frame will grow ever bigger. Of course more tokens means more money.

No love for Subversion? It can arguably handle binary files better than Git.

It fits a pattern of limiting content (lines of text, issue/discussion items, etc) to a small number.
A cynical part of me wants to say it is because their algorithms are horribly inefficient and they have some big polynomial or even exponential ones in there.

12.01.2026 11:15 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Github always limits everything, viewing large files and diffs is the prime example, so this limitation with issues doesn't surprise me.

I would only advise going the home lab route if you want to host your own services and or learn about different server technology.
Though I have to say that the software for doing this has improved significantly since I last ran a home server more than a decade ago.

I'm seeing a lot of Synology recommendations so I'm going to suggest looking into ugreen since I've seen them advertised on tech YouTube and it seems decent.
I myself run an AMD 3950x as a home server with 8x 8tb drives in it and use TrueNAS in a virtual machine for storage.
