Thank you for reading! And I did in fact write those books for Dominicana readers first and foremost!

6. Read a 2025 release by a BIPOC author.
@adrianaherrera.bsky.social’s A Tropical Rebel Gets the Duke was a stellar end to Las Leonas trilogy and a well-researched historical romance that centered women’s repro health in 1889. Can’t wait to see what Adriana writes next.
Happy pub day to this literary masterpiece! @adrianaherrera.bsky.social thank you for writing a book that not only taught me about reproductive justice and colonialism but was also incredibly romantic and sexy #romancelandia #booksky #historicalromance #romancebooks
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.
Book Cover for A Tropical Rebel Gets The Duke by Adriana Herrera in the center. The book is purple with a golden frame and lavender around the title. A dark-skinned black woman stands in a yellow dress as she gazes up at a light brown-skinned man in a dark suit. They hold each other. Below the title is a small skyline of Paris. Along the sides of the book cover, purple text over a yellow background reads: BOOK REVIEW. @BOOKISH_AFROLATINA.
The same as Image 1 but the book cover is darkened with the book review text over it in black and white: This is now my favorite book of the Leonas series & absolutely one of my favorite reads of 2025 already!! Adriana Herrera brings us an amazingly smart & resilient heroine finding the love she deserves with a head-strong, passionate, and dedicated man who will never stop fighting systems of oppression. Aurora's background hit me hard & I related a lot to her feelings of abandonment and shame. Something that brought me a lot of joy was the way Herrera showed the truth about being a Black woman, forced to put up a shield and take any hits that come our way; we need tenderness and care and love. We deserve to be adored, too. The chemistry between Aurora and Apollo is off the charts!! These two can't keep their hands off of each other. I think that this is probably the most explicit of the three books, too, but I might reread them all just to make sure!
Happy Pub Day to @adrianaherrera.bsky.social! A Tropical Rebel gets the Duke is unapologetically feminist and a balm for our time. #booksky #blackbooksky #newbooks #bookreviews #books
Thank you!💜
It’s starting to give @fridging without a dead body” and if that’s your bag, go awf, but what is the need to call it romance?
I’m a trauma therapist and also a romance author and have some theories! And would also love an in depth analysis of this.
Two Things:
1. I wanted to write an abortion story where the heroine does not regret her decision, gets her HEA & I could show the trauma that comes from LACK OF ACCESS to reproductive health.
2. I wouldn’t have finished this book w/o @jenreadsromance.bsky.social sage advice. Best eye in romance!
💜💜 I could not have finished this book without you!
Thank you so much for reading and for this! It made my day!
Thank you!🥰
My new tagline?
This is the best compliment…I never knew I needed lol!🥰
This was extremely timely and clear headed then and somehow even more appropriate now!
I’ve revisited this Atwood quote a lot as I’ve tried to make sense of the current romance landscape…
A TROPICAL REBEL GETS THE DUKE…out 02.04.2025
Heroine is a Dominican-Mexican physician who runs s secret women’s clinic in Belle Epoque Paris…Hero is the first Black duke in Britain…They don’t like each other…
She’s messy…He’s into it.💜💛
💜💛Also it BANGS.
It’s so hard to put down the urge to make people see “we’re good and smart” but being able to mess up and still get everything is so much better.
The Leonas are best friends from finishing school 😉 but thank you for the shout out!😊
