It was humbling to join volunteers at One Roof in setting up the Winter Shelter: offering Leicester's homeless a safe bed, a hot meal & a second chance.

Government schemes and contracts must give opportunities for local businesses.
They are the lifeblood of our economies, especially in Leicester.

Khaleed Oladipo was more than a name in a headline. He was a son, a friend & a future full of promise.
His life was cruelly cut short and a family now carries unimaginable pain.
Our sympathy must be matched with decisive action that delivers real prevention & change to tackle knife crime.
How shameful to weaponise a tragedy. And then attack our city for the sake of headline-grabbing. Leicester’s true story is written every day by its people, not by fear-mongering narratives. It is a story of culture, respect & unity with communities showing up for each other in tough times and challenges. Like many, I am proud to call this city home, and I will always stand up for it. In reference to a headline that reads: "Leicester is no multicultural success - it is a strark warning to the rest of Britain" with an image of police tape after a student was tragically stabbed to death.
