At one meeting in recent weeks before the latest controversy erupted, Musk held a meeting with xAI staffers from various teams where he “was really unhappy” over restrictions on Grok’s Imagine image and video generator, the first source with knowledge of the situation at xAI said. Around the time of the meeting with Musk, three xAI staffers who had worked on the company’s already small safety team publicly announced on X that they were leaving the company – Vincent Stark, head of product safety; Norman Mu, who led the post-training and reasoning safety team; and Alex Chen, who led personality and model behavior post training.

Around that same time period - 3 xAI safety staffers, including the Head of Product safety, left the company. Today, Grok digitally undressed the image of Renee Nicole Good after she had been shot. More here: www.cnn.com/2026/01/08/t...
New: A few weeks before Grok started 'digitally undressing' people (and some children) by user request on X, there was a meeting at xAI. Musk expressed frustration over guardrails on what ppl could create w/ Grok Imagine, source tells me.

As @brianstelter.bsky.social highlights today - a man has been jailed in Tennessee over a meme he posted in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's assassination - a meme that quoted Trump... this is exactly what many conservatives (and Elon Musk) say is happening in UK - jailed for a meme. t.co/kgtK1bsd8d
When I asked xAI about this, I got an autoreply email back that said "Legacy Media Lies."
