I want my money back.

I’m *this* close to being a woman with no more Fs to give. Also a mom, wife, public education advocate, and director of a food security nonprofit. If you have one dog, you should have two. Always have a “spare” but love them both deeply. Manhattan, KS
I want my money back.
Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”
His message is powerful. How he said it is art.
fantastic piece from my colleague @polgreen.bsky.social that gets at something i have been thinking about. what, exactly, is the administration's strategic goal in minnesota? what does "victory" look like for trump and miller?
America in 2026: 34 people control 12% of the income.

PS…take 2026 with you.
This video is the perfect encapsulation of the illegal, thuggish, unprovoked, violent conduct of ICE. Rep. @benniethompson.bsky.social, I trust that you and the House Homeland Security Committee will have interest in this.

How many of the 80+ people killed in this “law enforcement” action were civilians?
So, nobody is running Venezuela? Or everybody is? Very confused.
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.
Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.
Participation or Access are both good descriptors. The critics asserted he was describing the middle class. I think he is saying is there is no longer much of a middle class. You either have more than enough or you are always on the cusp of disaster- if you are lucky to not be in disaster already.

FA is the biggest NPO in the US, supporting a huge amount of the charitable food network. I suggest a deeper dive before you pass judgement based solely upon CEO compensation.
Or perhaps they are able to spend more money on their mission because they are using advertising wisely. If the ads promote awareness and bring in additional revenue, it is to the benefit of the people served. Depending on the type of advertising, it can be very cost effective.

This was the line that punched me in the gut. That $31,200 refers to the poverty line.
“What does that tell you about the $31,200 line we still use?
It tells you we are measuring starvation.”
Propel makes a free app for people on food stamps. Now it's giving some of them $50 each, as some private companies, nonprofits, and individuals scramble to help. n.pr/4hKqa6z
“It’s a pretty delicate supply chain, so trying to figure out what it would look like to get additional infant formula to food banks to support families in the event of a widespread disruption to WIC is incredibly challenging."
This. Food programs are already stretched too thin, even with SNAP. It is not sustainable- not even for a brief time.
SCOOP: USDA says it can’t shuffle funds to extend food assistance during shutdown--but its own plan dated Sept. 30 and since deleted -- says the department would use its multi-year contingency fund to continue paying SNAP during the shutdown www.newsfromthestates.com/article/usda...
I’m good with my taxes subsidizing social welfare for people who can’t afford food.
I’m enraged with my taxes subsidizing corporate welfare to businesses that won’t pay a living wage.
I hate that this is necessary. And I hope Gov Kelly of Kansas is watching. Kansas’ food programs are already straining under growing need. It will not take much more to reach a breakpoint.
I lived with my dad when I was very young and he didn’t apply for food stamps or free school lunches, though we qualified.
So, I went hungry. It was awful. I begged neighbors for saltine crackers. I can say it was the worst time of my life.
Children shouldn’t go hungry. Restore SNAP benefits.
This is mind blowing. I don’t know how this is happening. I mean, I know. But how? What will it take for this to end?
I’d go one step further and say “I don’t care what any rich guy thinks.”
Please...please...please...

Kindness and courage can co-exist in leadership. Kindness does not equal weakness. The opposite is true. Kindness is strength personified. When you can be kind to others, you are displaying strength of character. Weak leaders make it all about themselves. Be a lighthouse in the storm.
My 28th anniversary is coming up on Saturday. I love my husband dearly. If I was marrying him this Saturday, there is no way in hell I would take his last name. And I will tell my children the same thing should they ever choose to marry.
In this clip, I cover the recent Philly experiment that finally tested housing vouchers against cash in a randomized controlled trial. The monthly basic income was almost 4x as effective at reducing homelessness in 18 months, dropping it by 67% compared to 19%.
1 in 4 vouchers weren't even usable.
