Marian Anderson and Albert Einstein's unexpected friendship | American Masters | PBS
American Masters Multimedia Producer Cristiana Lombardo recounts how Marian Anderson and Albert Einstein crossed paths, forming a long-lasting friendship.
For the next 18 years, Anderson stayed with Einstein whenever she was in town to give a concert. While Anderson’s role as a civil rights figure was solidified with her iconic performance at the Lincoln Memorial (in front of an integrated audience of over 75,000), few knew of Einstein’s activism.

How Albert Einstein Used His Fame to Denounce American Racism
The world-renowned physicist was never one to just stick to the science
Do folks know Einstein spoke at the 1946 National Urban League Convention?
“There is separation of colored people from white people in the United States. That separation is not a disease of colored people. It is a disease of white people. I do not intend to be quiet about it.”

I love when there's real world examples used to help people conceptualize what's going on!
We get 'Gmail'.
We get 'Outlook'.
But 'PDS' and 'cows 🐄 🐮 mooving' and multilayered, multiple step processes were definitely going over the heads of casual users!
Kudos for making this make sense! 🫡

10/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this.
Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

Screenshot of an In These Times article headlined “Howard Zinn on How Karl Marx Predicted Our World Today,” with the subheading, “On the second centenary of his birth, Karl Marx remains as relevant as ever.” The byline reads Howard Zinn, dated May 4, 2019. Below the headline is a black-and-white portrait of Karl Marx with a full white beard and dark coat. The image caption reads, “Happy birthday, Karl Marx. (Wikimedia Commons)”
On the anniversary of Marx’s death, revisit this piece in which Howard Zinn wrote, “Marx predicted the world of today,” from extreme concentrations of wealth to capitalism’s global hunt for profit and the failure to distribute society’s abundance justly.

Map of projected temperature anomalies next Thursday across the western U.S. from the ECMWF ensemble. The entire map is bright red and pink, indicative of extreme to record-breaking March warmth. Some location will be 25-30F degrees above average, with a few locations warming over 35F (!) above average.
All signs continue to point to an exceptional, long-duration, and record-breaking to (in some cases) record-shattering March heatwave initially centered across U.S. Southwest but expanding to much broader region next week. This is effectively a full-on summer heatwave in March.

On this year’s long covid awareness day, I want more people to read and think about what the late Shafiqah Hudson said before it killed her. Because she was right, as usual, and also early, as usual. Perhaps too early for a lot of people to listen.

You're so right about the time, I don't give those folks more than 2 replies anymore. Such arguments are partially correct in specific hypothetical circumstances that are raised to elide the actual circumstances of the actual incident in question, which is the root of all the evil these days.

To me, if you're walking up to a parked car, you are not a pedestrian. This is not a thoroughfare and you have ignored all concepts of right of way to engage a specific vehicle by your own choice.
