Lansky goes home Meyer Lansky has been discharged from Mount Sinai Medical Center after recovery from surgery to remove a tumor from one of his lungs. The reputed mobster, 78, underwent surgery Feb. 25. At his wife's request, hospital officials refused to say whether the tumor was cancerous. Lansky is reputed to have risen from Prohibition gang wars to become one of the underworld's most powerful men. He lives in Miami Beach.
March 11, 1980: The Miami News reports that mobster Meyer Lansky was discharged from Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Lansky would return to the hospital and die in 1983.
