Big news in these parts. I think I noticed it (thought I just had a dizzy moment). Middle kid (lying still at the time) felt it. First quake for us in over 4 years, since we left the Shaky Isles.

I don't think so - that was my first thought too though
I disagree with this one IPA-wise @amycgale.bsky.social @jbhay.bsky.social
Steve has moved and we don't know where.
As long as he's not in any of our bedrooms we're not too worried... But we don't know that he isn't ππ₯
I'm so sorry. Sending big hugs. May his memory be a blessing β€οΈ
*would not be ready to return to work tomorrow. Luckily I don't have to.
I'm very glad that we planned this holiday to end at a long weekend because I am certainly not mentally ready to return to work tomorrow. Good thinking, past me!
I wouldn't be so sanguine about a snake in the vicinity though!
True! π
Nah, he (or she) is harmless to us & eats things like white-tails so is a useful houseguest βΊοΈ
My apologies - it was insensitive of me not to put a warning on that post
π when he races across the wall I'll probably get a fright
Steve, a decent-sized huntsman spider, on a wall just above a double doorway with closed glass sliding doors. Steve is perhaps 10cm across including the legs.
Just got home from Tasmania to find the kids have adopted a new pet
I apparently have chickenpox scars in my lungs from when I had it very very badly as a kid.
A friend's toddler was once walking around holding a wooden spoon to her ear and chattering away, so the mum said "is that your phone?"
Kid gave her side-eye and said scathingly "no, it's a wooden spoon!" π
I hope it clears up soon!
This is at the Tasmanian Arboretum near Devonport. We saw two or three (two at once and a singleton, so could have seen the same one twice).
I've seen them at Tidbinbilla too, but this is the best view I've ever had in the wild π
If you were thinking of joining us for Tadashi Tokieda's 'A magic show', we have added two extra sessions ποΈ due to demand on Sat 14 + Sun 15 March: events.humanitix.com/a-magic-show... π©π°
This will be part of 'Maths at the Museum', curated by SMRI for International Day of Mathematics #MathSky #Syd
Got a great look at some platypus this afternoon π₯°
View across scrubby bush to a long white sand beach and turquoise to deep blue water. There is a peninsula with mountains in the background. There isn't a cloud in the sky. Friendly Beaches, Tasmania, Australia.
Suffering terribly, I don't think I can possibly gather myself to move from here
Pascall's Explorers for sale in a supermarket in a small town in Tasmania
Proof, if you needed it,that Tasmania is more like NZ than other parts of Australia
A sign at the Wineglass Bay lookout warning people of the 1000+ steps down to the beach and that climbing back up them is actually the easiest way back to the carpark from the beach.
View across the white sand and clear waters of Wineglass Bay towards the southern Freycinet Peninsula.
Coles Bay from Hazards Beach, with clear bright blue water stretching to the horizon. A catamaran water taxi is leaving the beach.
A view through the trees from the Hazards Beach track down to a small beach with beautiful turquoise water and white sand.
Then we did the 1000+ steps down to the beach and back to the car park via the Hazards Beach track. The sign is right, it's exhausting. #Tasmania
Wineglass Bay, Tasmania, seen from the lookout which is a (roughly) 200m climb over 1.5km with 400+ steps from the carpark.
Took a walk today #Tasmania
We're watching this new ABC show Tonight at the Museum, and it's at TMAG. We were there on Monday, it's cool to see them wandering where we were a couple of days ago π
East coast of Tasmania is a good place to start βΊοΈ
Cape Tourville lighthouse, a modern-looking white tower (not very tall) on a concrete & stone base. On the Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania.
An explanatory sign for the lighthouse with historical & technical details. It was constructed in 1971.
Hi @katydidnz.bsky.social here's a lighthouse for you
And of course @birdandbeach.bsky.social @thesewphist.bsky.social
I recommend @beechworks.bsky.social

Coles Bay, and gummy shark π but it turned out to be enough for two people after all.
