God, I hope they don't ever reboot newsies after realizing they made the perfect strike anthem in musical form

Some people need Superman telling them that US Interventionism branded kindness is punk rock. Some people need Barbie to tell them that being a woman is hard while buying a toy built on the labor exploitation of women. Do you need mickey mouse to teach you about liberation too? Come on, now.

If we could move the discourse for the Barbie movie past "well, some people need feminism 101" and more toward "corporations are appropriating the language of progress to serve the goals of capitalism" we would achieve great things in media criticism and our relationship with consumerism. But alas.

Lois Lane is surrounded by sparkles as she's styled in a Kryptonian outfit. Superman says "Having Kryptonian powers is a great responsibility, Lois! What's the first thing you'd like to do?" Lois stares at him "..."

Cut to Lois sitting at her desk in her superwoman outfit as a blond white guy leans on her desk and says "Nee hau! If it isn't Lois Lane, Indian girl from Bali!" Lois shoots him with her laser vision, setting him on fire. He screams.

Cut back to reality, Lois giggles to herself while Superman smiles in confusion.

I only accept Lois Lane as Superwoman under these conditions.

It's the way revision notes for an entire graphic novel can come back sooner than marketing approving a title so I can start talking about this book that gets me.

Publishing is a slow beast in the most mysterious ways.
