Landscape ecological restoration. It can be done but we need to get a move on. This is Carrifran where the sheep were removed to allow this native woodland to take over.
One of my most influential academics has this to say 👇
Ask a techbro to make a business case for AI energy consumption: you’ll get an energy consumption equation from a hypothesis that human intelligence is the result of food intake. Alrighty Sam, you absolutely must eat for a good few more years.
(… and the comments are priceless)
Michael, in this context you may find this 3 piece investigative article a fascinating/ insightful/ depressing read on Epstein & his links to Silicon Valley - a network ideologically driven by eugenics, white supremacy and climate ‘culling’. Survival of the richest. bylinetimes.com/2025/12/03/h...
Despite sustainble developm. & green growth efforts, the research indicates fossil fuel combustion, industrial activ., land-use change & deforestation, are major force behind accelerating climate change. In 2024, global energy-related CO2 emissions rose by 0.8%.
Can we afford more economic growth?
The power of money
Britain is the world’s worst offender for letting fossil fuel companies drill in protected areas.
Imagine what life would be like if…
Wow …
Who needs science? 🤷♀️ Who needs health science? Who needs Disease control & prevention or food and drug administration research? We live in desperate times.
As a wee side note, UK govt published this today.
This map shows the number of dentists per 10,000 residents in Europe. The stereotype of British people having bad teeth is mirrored in the low number of dentists per capita. Is there a stereotype regarding Swedish teeth?! HT @Maps_interlude
So today I found out that my TED talk ‘This is What a Digital Coup Looks Like’ was TED’s most watched talk of the year.
It’s sort of amazing & terrifying. Because this *is* what a digital coup looks like.

So I have come across this site with alternative digital service providers in Europe: european-alternatives.eu/de but naturally it doesn’t include brexitland. Is there something similar out there promoting #digitalsovereignity for UK
Back to using professional human translaters. I have just watched the documentary 2073, it really hits home the harsh reality of what is upon us. Your deepl experience case in point.
I find Google translate highly inaccurate accept for translation of individual words. I would not want to advocate for the use of AI for ethical reasons but have found it to be a lot more precise for text translation and contextual nuances.
Thanks , I couldn’t see the whole article on my feed but it’s there now.
Where could I access your article?
“Over nine months, Sky News’ Data and Forensics team investigated whether X’s algorithms amplify right-wing and extreme content.
Their findings were clear: Elon Musk’s X is boosting right-wing and extreme content, as well as politicians Musk favours.”
Ah, ok ich hate nur den Postvgelesen und nicht das Video gesehen
Not ‘if’ … we are! But I would settle for a good Scotch whisky

Agreed. But I also find creeping normalisation of education provision being part of the market economy concerning. We all know that it (policy?) has somehow coerced higher education into adopting business models but surely that cannot be in the public interest.
Die Frage daher wäre warum?
Let that sink in, we are talking about education providers which are in essence public service providers. So shrinking public sector services is very much on the agenda, underinvesting/underfunding education service in my book does nothing to the so desperately pursued policy on 'economic growth'
How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.
