Uninvited Touch

Gripping at shadows in a blackout ballroom,Β
every step a blindfolded treasure hunt,
a choreography of tripwires and trapdoors
danced through the scent of others' sweat.

My fumbling fingers grope through fog
while the world gropes me back,Β
with uninvited, wandering hands.
Grasping, relentless.
Pressing against meΒ
like an eager lad who thinks
β€œno” is just a challenge.

I’m not dancing.
I’m weaving throughΒ
the unsolicited caressΒ
of society’s palms.

Searching for the light switchΒ
in a room full of strangersΒ
who claim you’re luckyΒ
to be noticed.

I do not consent.
I’m not flattered.Β
I’m a flayed walking bruise
with a polite smile
and clenched fist in my pocket.

They cried witch
Put us in the ducking stool
Float or sink
We couldn't win
Burnt at the stake was to be our fate
They want us subdued
To stand up for yourself is
to be the agressor
A strong woman breeds fear in men
Today it's bitches instead of witches
And still they kill us

Had a great time dancing my worries away at the Recovery House: Sisterhood of Sound Sober Rave last night as an early International Woman's Day celebration.
Am I gonna pay for it? Absolutely
Do I regret it? Absolutely Not

Tonight, two of the white nationalists I reported on in this piece showed up to attempt to intimidate me on a private night out at a small music venue.

I’ll have more to say tomorrow. I’m safe.

They also didn’t pay cover πŸ–•

The moon's eye,
watching through
a misty cataract

flowers close
for the evening
deceived
by light's leaving,
all to be forgiven
come morning

& in the dark,
I steel myself
for the day ahead
wearing dread
like a lanyard

still, a thread of hope
that I'll be
as the flower
unfurling
come morning.

A little context goes a long way.

On Gander, when a news article is shared you’re provided with some basic information around source bias and factuality. While we still recommend reading the article before sharing or reacting, this is one step toward more informed (and civil) dialogue.

I accidentally misread Einstein as Epstein and let me tell you the journey I just took in the land of confusion before circling back the beginning to see where I took a wrong turn πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

The next Einstein is out there. The first person to walk on Mars is out there. But we're all so busy trying to survive paycheck to paycheck that we'll never know, and these amazing people will instead live miniaturized, frustrated, and short lives.

This is about UBI.

Really confused by those who post on a public platform and then get prickly when people interact and to be clear I'm talking polite and friendly comments getting snarky responses not the nasty comments; like if you don't want engagement then either don't post or log off and go touch grass. πŸ™„πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™„

Canada Feeds the Crocodile This morning, I keep thinking about Winston Churchill, and the powerful allegory he used to warn that the appeaser is the man who feeds others to the crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

PM Carney has forgotten the story of the crocodile.
The appeaser supports feeding others to the crocodile in the hope that the crocodile will eat them last.
We are watching horrific violence in the Middle East.
Canada cannot stand with the crocodiles.

I prefer non-lethal distractions from the tRUMPSTEIN Files like renaming the Gulf of Mexico, making Canada the 51st state & buying Greenland. Sure it was hugely offensive to longtime friends & allies, but at least no one died.

Every month the United States provides even more reason to boycott its products and companies β€” the strikes on Iran being just the latest.

In light of that, it’s a great time to ditch the products and services of US tech companies. I made a comprehensive guide to help you.

my husbands are clockwork also, from a TBI in 2009 & occur daily ever since & range from really bad to less bad - we've just adapted our schedules to them.
Glad to hear yours have ebbed a bit with age, gives me hope that my husband will get some relief, hopefully yours will keep lessening

Photo Walk: Downtown Victoria | Vancouver Island School of Art Join Thomas Guerrero for this Saturday afternoon photo walk. Thomas is the writer of Sidewalking Victoria, an informative photography blog written from a pedestrian's perspective. In this afternoon workshop, Thomas will highlight specific areas of the downtown area and focus on specific photographic themes at each stop. Examples are photographing the intersection of lines, both real and shadows, at the foot of the Johnson St Bridge; taking advantage of taking photos at different levels in Bastion Square, and capturing the reflections in windows along Fisgard St in Chinatown. You will learn ways to create a thematic approach to photography as well as discover some fascinating locations in the downtown area. Meet at the school. Suitable for all levels. See supply list SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 1:30 - 4:30PM IN-PERSON

There are still spots for my spring photography workshop at the Vancouver Island School of Art. If you are wanting to try some new techniques and do a walk around downtown, be sure to sign up!
