My latest painting, part of a collaboration with an Instagram group that I paint with.

After the Oscars, I identified several productions I’d like to see on Disney/Hulu. I do not currently have a subscription to Disney/Hulu, so I will simply refrain from resubscribing to it, because I oppose the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show.

In an abusive relationship, the perpetrator makes the biggest power grabs when he feels his control over the victim is slipping.

I’m keeping that in mind whenever we see massive escalations from Trump. It’s all still very dangerous. But these moments are a sign of weakness, not strength.

This is my latest painting, a viewpoint of Mount Pisgah Arboretum in Eugene. Mt. Pisgah is a sanctuary for plants, trees, the Willamette River and all its fauna. I have recently committed to paint a series entitled Lost Lands, which will focus on indigenous territory threatened by encroachment.

The social order that bends to a tyrant’s will becomes a world of people only concerned with their own private needs, who sulk apart in fear and loneliness, and are unable to act in concert—that is to say, act politically. And that suits Trump, the tyrant, just fine.
