That may have been the case, but I think it was more likely b/c she was getting poked by the thorns in the brambles above her head. Ruby's a very good mama who seems to enjoy nursing her babies.

Even w/ all the protection & nourishment our yard offers, Peanut is 1 of the oldest bunnies to have lived here. Only ~20% of baby eastern cottontails ever reach adulthood & those that do have an ave lifespan of 15 mos. Peanut lived double that! Still wish we could've had her w/ us for MUCH longer 🥰
