At least 13 hospitals and health facilities hit during attacks on Iran, WHO says Global health body investigating reports that four medics are among the 1,230 people killed in Iran since start of war

Blowing up hospitals is a war crime, and as we saw in Gaza is a specialty of the Israel / U.S.

Hard to decide whether this offends me more as a journalist or as a citizen, but then I guess I don't need to choose.

Canadian governments hate and fear the public, a continuing series.

Carney is revealing himself as a true Conservative: knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing. We expect this from stupid people like Doug Ford not from highly-respected economists. But here we are.

This is just plain cruel.

Arms dealers, AI, and fossil fuel interests feed at the public trough. Austerity for everyone else.

It's astonishing that Starmer, the former human rights lawyer, stands by this. Does he think firing her would make him look weak? racist? disloyal?
Regardless, maybe it's him who is?

Decoupling from our deep dependence on the US economy is going to be more vital as it collapses. This includes our food supply.

Today we're revealing the cuts plans for our immigration system from Budget 2025. TLDR: These aren't efficiency savings they are major services cuts and cost downloads to cities poised to wreck our immigration system. @policyalternatives.ca 1/x

I don’t think Trump and his people are capable of engineering β€œdistractions,” I think the mind-numbing chaos we see every day is straightforwardly the result of giving the dumbest, cruelest, most corrupt, most selfish people of a generation near-unmitigated power

framing this as an "error" is doing everyone responsible a huge favour they don't deserve. the entire administration should be up on war crimes charges and the data centres should be permanently shut down

Carney's hope that austerity and sacrificing our culture and heritage to pay for shifting Canada's economy to a US-style military-industrial complex will somehow save us from the US is remarkably short-sighted.

Western countries backing what the US and Israel are doing in Iran aren’t just going to lose legitimacy in the eyes of their domestic publics, but are shredding any notion a new alliance of middle powers or whatever can defend any semblance of an international order.

Seriously, can anyone think of a product category where such a high percentage of options sold are so poorly designed to do their primary job as bike racks? Can you imagine if 40% of corkscrews couldn't really open a bottle of wine? Or water fountains where it's basically impossible to get a drink?
