Manifestly worth making time to visit the Glass Corridor Gallery on UoM campus for this exhibition over the next few weeks β¨ Really excellent!
Thank you @katherineharvey.bsky.social for this brilliant review of Voices of Thunder!
Itβs the end of the week and weβve now reached No. 25 of my recommended texts on the background, dynamics and politics of the 1926 General Strike in Britain in this 100th anniversary @strikemap.org @sslh.bsky.social @keithbeard.bsky.social @nwlh.bsky.social @iassc.bsky.social @redhen90.bsky.social
Just 5 mins away from the desk each hour can reset body and mind. Visit Sam Alex for an immersion in 'Mossworlds' - emerging from research by Dr Aurora Fredriksen (@uomseed.bsky.social), EACW's Dr Anke Bernau & Dr Ingrid Hanson, with their wider team and collaborators.
Looking forward to hearing βͺ@naoisemurphy.bsky.socialβ¬ reading from this newly published gem! 25th March, 4pm, Sam Alex A115 - join us!
So good to see this in print @sslh.bsky.social

Katrina thatβs really kind of you - but youβre not obliged to do my research! I came across the reference to βshuttle-gatheringβ in a history of Accrington Co-op where itβs presented as an alternative to plug-drawing so I wondered if it had been used in 1842 & whether it was an Accrington specialty!
Many thanks Katrina, Iβll check out the Hammondsβ volumes.
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβbecause the person felt she did didnβt deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Question for C19th Labour Historians have you come across references to βshuttle-gatheringβ as a tactic in industrial disputes? Hoping @katrinanavickas.bsky.social and @sslh.bsky.social might be able to help!

It was a pleasure - Iβm hoping that one day a song for Frost, Williams & Jones (or even Shell) might join the Dic Penderyn in your set!
Just back from watching @martynjosephwales.bsky.social at @bandonthewall.bsky.social First time Iβve seen Martyn Joseph play & hoping that it wonβt be the last. Powerful and thoughtful songs which address the heart and the head.
Just read a beautiful passage from Book 3, Ch.2 in #Gissingβs βThe Whirlpoolβ where Harvey Rolfe has an epiphanic moment when he realises that some of his childhood wonder will also be experienced by his son. Not quite what youβd expect from Gissing - eirenic rather than acerbic.
This you @wulfhelm.bsky.social ?

I haven't seen an adaptation studies #starterpack doing the rounds, so thought I'd create it myself! One for you if you're interested in #adaptation in a cultural context in all of its wonderfully various forms. Let me know in the replies if you'd like to be added.
