$13 billion in profit, $3.6 million fine - and that’s supposed to deter the company? The small fines clearly aren’t working. And unfortunately our government isn’t working either….

The story says groundwater is “unsuitable” for drinking. And why is that? Could it be because the Montney Basin has seen a frenzy of fracking over the past 20 years?
Online campaign targeting Globe journalist draws condemnation as an attack on press freedom
So rural Americans thought a billionaire could empathize with them? And now…a lot of them still do? The awakening will be traumatic when it occurs….
Amazing shot by Doug Mills. Incredible that he could focus and shoot in such an intense moment. He fully deserves the Pulitzer he just won.

If Trump thinks Russia just gets to take Crimea, what does he thinks the US just gets to take? Panama, certainly. Greenland, maybe. Canada, by economic coercion.
From today’s NYT: “The Environmental Protection Agency has informed employees who are experts in children’s health that they will be fired or reassigned because their job descriptions include work on environmental justice or diversity, equity and inclusion, an agency spokeswoman has confirmed.”
Neil Young has endorsed Carney, saying of US: “They want our resources, they want our land, they want our fisheries, they want our water, they want our Arctic, maybe they want our souls.
I know the U.S. President could use a soul. It takes more than bravado to fight this kind of a threat.”

You can’t make up how incompetent this administration is….

When Trump announced America’s “golden age” was starting I thought he was referring to the economy. But apparently it’s just him & the Oval Office ….where the furniture, frames & decorations are all gold.
Poilievre says he supports common, hard working people. And yet he makes it hard for reporters -most of whom make less than those in the oil patch - by denying
access to his campaign plane and limiting questions. Without answers reporters can’t do their jobs. Poilievre, let journalists work….
And how exciting for them…that it’s a Russian hockey player!

Nothing here Carney need explain or apologize for. Key quote: "We want them to not forget their origins, or not to forget their backgrounds and to instill in them a sense of pride and a sense of belonging: that the culture from which they come is a good culture."
What this tells me is that Trump has never in his life actually shopped for groceries. Think about that. He has no understanding of how the price of food affects the lives of ordinary people.

It was known when they built this housing that it would be needed only for a few years. But they didn’t build it to be re-used, which is shocking - and shameful - in a country where so many are homeless.

Preston Manning is not speaking for BC when he says “a vote for the Carney Liberals is a vote for Western secession.” If he’s not speaking for Alberta or Sask. either, I’d like to hear prairie folk make that clear.
The headline gives away the emptiness of the content. “Some voters” means maybe none. “May think so” means may not. In other words it is spun out of thin air.

The BC government has just handed the petro industry a $2 billion yearly windfall….which I bet will not be passed on to consumers.

Why journalism still matters. A story that simply gets the facts straight and says what facts aren’t publicly available yet.
He made the “strategic decision” to restrict access when the polls showed him leading, and he arrogantly thought he didn’t need the media. Now, with his popularity plummeting, that doesn’t seem like such a smart move.
Any politician who loses touch with the pulse of the populace is f—ing doomed. Just so you know.
So it turns out Pete Hegseth lied. And Michael Waltz lied. And Tulsi Gabbard lied. And also lied to Congress while under oath. And John Ratliffe lied. And also lied to Congress while under oath.
And as ever Jeffrey Goldberg and the Atlantic were telling the truth.
This is why journalism matters.
Liberals are making a mistake if they don’t run former BC Premier Christy Clark. She’s a smart, tough politician who loves a good scrap, and the next federal government will need more of that.
If the media said Danielle Smith asked a foreign govt to pause tariffs in order to influence the federal election, it might be labeled fake news. But Smith says it about herself. A formal investigation is needed to answer the question: Did she illegally solicit foreign interference?
The best way to describe Poilievre’s habit of responding to reporters’ questions with his own questions: narcissistic deflection.
Reporters ask questions to get information with which they can craft stories. Answering his questions doesn’t help them do their jobs - it just wastes time. But he insists on asking arrogant questions, because his base likes to see the media insulted.
