Some gamedev youtubers and influencers are great at presentation and making their content look flashy and polished. The problem is when what they teach is flawed or just plain wrong. Without curation, newcomers can only judge by appearances, not accuracy.

You can get more insight usually in live streams (Jon Blow about package systems is nice, Freya Holmer shader course is peak for example) but they require a huge time and attention investment because they are not curated, there is usually raw Twitch recordings

Most gamedev videos are usually just the a directors cut of the documentation, no expanding nor questioning at all. I get that is tailored to wide the target audience, but is hard to feed good deep content on YouTube.

Anthropic post on Twitter:

We've identified industrial-scale distillation attacks on our models by DeepSeek, Moonshot Al, and MiniMax.
These labs created over 24,000 fraudulent accounts and generated over 16 million exchanges with Claude, extracting its capabilities to train and improve their own models.

free games where at the top of โ€œmost downloadedโ€ because they where downloaded more being free.
They also used to have a โ€œmost revenueโ€ that eventually got topped by free games too โ€˜cause you can have infinite payments while a tradicional game is a 1-time purchase ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Would a custom model only trained with sprites from the game (or licensed sprites from other people) work?
Under those limitations it may work, and it would be ethical.

Wouldnโ€™t called it genAI, tho, term is too loaded and it It would be actually more similar to ML conceptually

The picture contains a couple of tweets of a Claude Code developer, explaining why the Claude Code application flickers from time to time.
Now, bear in mind that Claude Code is a Terminal UI application, meaning: it runs on the terminal and *only has to draw TEXT*.

This is the unhinged way they use to draw text that somehow make it very hard for them to draw text on a screen at 60 frames per second:

First tweet:

Our fix to remove flickering is rolled out again to everyone on Claude Code.

Why did we roll it back? If Claude is so good, why were there bugs to begin with? Why was it so complex? ๐Ÿงต

Second Tweet:

Most people's mental model of Claude Code is that "it's just a TUI" but it should really be closer to "a small game engine".

For each frame our pipeline constructs a scene graph with React then
-> layouts elements
-> rasterizes them to a 2d screen
-> diffs that against the previous screen
-> finally uses the diff to generate ANSI sequences to draw

We have a ~16ms frame budget so we have roughly ~5ms to go from the React scene graph to ANSI written.

What are the wildest video game promo events you can remember?

Things like game reviewers being brought out to the gun range to shoot a .50 cal or SAW.
