Very excited that Gossip is close to finding a good home! It's...not an easy paper, so I was actually pretty worried that it wouldn't. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
On Tuesday, @uofoklahomalaw.bsky.social Professor Hayley Stillwell gave three presentations on understanding and strategic use of unpublished opinions in appellate litigation at the OKC Federal Bar Associationβs Litigation Academy, a training program for new attorneys.
Iβm excited to share this new project with the world, my first foray into disability law. Thanks to @robynmpowell.bsky.social for her insight and support on this project. It will be on SSRN soon, but in the meantime DM me if you would like to read!
Big thanks to our amazing Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Research, Jon Lee (@jonleelawprof.bsky.social) for leading this work!
At @uofoklahomalaw.bsky.social, we are committed to supporting the work of junior faculty. This week, we hosted a regional workshop, for junior faculty from four schools in the area. We look forward to hosting more events in the years to come!
OU Law is hiring a legal writing faculty member! Details are below. Contact me directly if you have any questions.

Congratulations to @uofoklahomalaw.bsky.social Prof. Michael Smith @msmith750.bsky.social for having his article, βIn Praise of Generative AI,β accepted for publication by the Iowa Law Review!
Check out the draft here: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....
@uofoklahomalaw.bsky.social Associate Dean and Professor Jon Lee @jonleelawprof.bsky.social delivered the opening plenary session for the Philippine Association of Law Schools Annual Convention, sharing his insights on the development of the NextGen Bar exam.
They too are ready for journal submission season!
While we could have thrown in a mystery guest, we have opted to announce @noahchauvin.bsky.social will also be joining us!
Thanks to @jonleelawprof.bsky.social for keeping our faculty exchange program alive and well.
What a great lineup!
Thank you!
I did have someone reach out to me on here asking why in this upcoming article I would focus on sexual misconduct in legal academia rather than "everything on fire."
This is why. It's a fire in our own house. And it keeps young women scholars, especially, from being able to do their critical work.
Very interesting forthcoming article on state constitutional equivalents to the 4th Amendment, and how state courts do and don't interpret them, from Quinn Yeargain.

It was the highlight of taking Family Law at UNC School of Law--learning the ins-and-outs of alienation of affections and criminal conversation. And when I was teaching there, the John Edwards case was heating up!
Law Profs: I want to give a shout out to the Wash. & Lee Law Review editors. I just received final edits on my forthcoming piece, Sanctioning Lawyer-Criminals (coming soon!). At this stage in my career, I prioritize the quality of the pub experience when selecting journals--and they are excellent!

W&L Lawβs Blue Mountain Writing Retreat!!

I have a bad habit of writing βCitation!β below the line once I get into the groove of writing. By 30 pages in, every cite is βCitation!β Even though Iβve read all of the literature, it makes the editing process horrendous.
OK Computer has such a special place in my heart. I listen to Paranoid Android at least once a week.
Excited to announce that my book, REVOLUTION IN REDLINE, is finally out! I compile key docs leading to the Founding, then present the Founding Docs in "redline," visually tracking the drafters' edits to show how the text evolved. (The Founders didn't start from scratch, and they disagreed often.)1/6
At AALS, the Professional Responsibility section put on a spectacular program entitled βThe Law Professorβs Role in Protecting Our Legal System,β featuring Renee Knake Jefferson (@legalethics.bsky.social), Scott Cummings, Matthew Diller, Rachel LΓ³pez, and Milan Markovic (@profmarkovic.bsky.social).
I spoke on a great #AALS panel yesterday organized by @jonleelawprof.bsky.social and @legalethics.bsky.social on the Law Professor's Role in Protecting Our Legal System. My goal was to encourage law profs to engage with the public and not succumb to fear. Some thoughts for those not in attendance:
I greatly enjoyed working with the @georgetownlj.bsky.social editors on this government ethics piece!
Not surprising! scholarship.law.duke.edu/faculty_scho...
They sure do! (And speaking as a diehard Tarheel fan and double alum, there is only one shade of blue and thatβs not it!)
Buc-eeβs is a notorious trademark bully. I am cataloguing some of their overclaiming in an article Iβm working on this spring. It is fascinating to see how their arguments have continued to shift (and become more general) as of late. Apparently they have the market cornered on smiling cartoons!
Last week, @uofoklahomalaw.bsky.social Professor Jon Lee @jonleelawprof.bsky.social presented at a faculty workshop at North Carolina Central University School of Law, sharing his expertise on best practices for developing assessments.
