So, it's either an oversupply of locums, and/or
...a failure of 'jobs board' apps/platforms, including WhatsApp, where practices in other areas post a 'shift' and have to spend hours fending off desperate applicants +
...the number of ad-hoc locum sessions these GPs could have worked, but weren't booked for, has doubled.
...there are 3,000 more GP locums now than there were pre-covid +

The action being taken – if that’s what we can call it – is simply GPs doing the job they’re already contracted to do, with any consequences simply exposing shortfalls in any existing contracts.
