Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.

β¦and this is the model cited by politicians who want to do this elsewhere.
The bloodthirsty 12-year-old speaks. No mercy! Surrender or die! Bow before my might! Pow pow!
A water scientist who collected 107 eel corpses predicted the total number of casualties could be in the realm of 300 to 500.
Matthew Hooton's column should have been illustrated with this. He talked abt Sweden's death toll without mentioning it was NINE TIMES bigger than ours. He dismissed deaths in other countries as mainly being older people, so it would have been ok for us to have heaps of older folks die? Ghoul.
We have awarded these people contracts in the Ministry of Defence. What the fuck are we doing.
Unsurprised at this but will reference in my Media Council complaint the experts who are clear βgetting Covid repeatedly is not like building immunity, it's more like accumulating damage. Each infection raises your risk of long Covid and serious complications.β

So NZβs governmentsβ failure to deal with the supermarket duopoly in NZ is not only taking food off tables because of excess profits and profiteering but also causing job losses. #nzpol
Officials slammed move-on orders in just-released advice, warning they would add:
- 6 people to the prison pop
- 200-800 court cases
- Make homelessness worse

This is the consequence of the issue that JAG raised in Parliament yesterday. Hundreds of people, many in the rain, waiting to check in for the one Interislander ferry. Which is also delayed by an hour
Lest we forget:
In the 2022 market report, the Commission dropped the bombshell about Foodstuffs and Woolworthsβ profits being consistently higher than they should be, to the tune of $1 million a day. #nzpol www.consumer.org.nz/articles/sup...
Cartoon. Title: βPokedβ Picture shows NZ First leader Winston Peters as a used car salesman. Heβs leaning against a clapped out mini-van with a COVID sign on top. Heβs saying, βYep, thereβs a bit of mileage in it yet!β
NZ First leader Winston Peters calls for another inquiry into Covid-19, this one to examine vaccine injuries.

It is extremely difficult to construct a practical case against this position. Net Zero is now as much about patriotism as it is about climate change.
I still think about this a lot.
This time we profile one of the worst people in the world and explain how much of what we associate with Trump is really Millerβs sinister mission to remake America
I do not understand how the ABSOLUTELY VOLUNTARY destruction of the original ferry replacement is not a massive political scandal?!
It was a reflexive ideological decision that has disadvantaged the country significantly.
Bugger it, if I had to read these two paragraphs then all of you do too
While we might wish politicians wouldn't destroy the social fabric for gain, & might wish media quote the report itself to add context when repeating claims, we can at least invite those we know personally on-spreading claims to read aloud key report statements & judge politicians trustworthiness
Proud of our decisions, and especially proud of the team who did all the mahi to make it happen. Itβs so important we join up the network to enable safe, low cost and low carbon transport choices for PΕneke.
Chart comparing excess mortality across various countries during the covid pandemic (2020-2023). US and UK were the worst. Sweden, Australia, Taiwan, and Korea were middle of the pack. NZ was the clear winner by a huge margin.
Fundamentally this is the only chart that really matters when comparing covid responses across countries.
By the most important measure, NZ had the best performance in the world. It did so well that fewer people died than expected!
Credit where it's due: it's really good that Andrew Little not only signed this letter but is vocal against this government's kick-the-homeless bullshit.
I really love that Wellington's leaders are speaking out against this cruelty - Auckland's and Christchurch's should do the same.
This godforsaken idiot piece of shit.
Julie Anne Genter/NZ Greens post: In 2020, as Minister for Women, I helped pass changes to the Equal Pay Act to bring in a world-leading system to address systemic undervaluation and underpayment of female-dominated professions: Nurses, midwives, early childhood educators, teachers, clerical and admin workers, librarians, care and support workers, and so many crucial roles that enable our society to flourish. This cruel Coalition Government repealed that law and cancelled 33 claims that were in process - denying fair pay to hundreds of thousands of low paid essential workers, mostly women. We will bring it back, and fix our tax system, so we can pay our essential workers properly. @nzgreenparty #payequity #nzpol
Hey thanks NZ Greens for being the only party on International Womenβs Day who made a serious, detailed, informed post about the inequity faced by NZ women and committed to doing something about it. π

I have made an error in calculating how long you could fund Te Huia for the price of one road.
The operating cost is actually $5.82m per year.
So you could fund it for 3780 years for $22,000,000,000, not 150 years

The current situation reminds me how magical I find it that the petrol already in storage tanks at petrol stations manages to increase in price in line with global oil prices almost instantly.
But to decrease it always seems to need to wait a bit longer for the new, cheaper stuff to arrive.
