Thanks. We discuss s explanations in paper. SI11 (pasted below): in v religious places effect of signals reduce, but for esp. beards the order remains and they reduce trustw, a channel is perceived attractiveness. The channel through signal -> perceived religiosity -> trustworthiness is positive

My quick reading suggests that the piece is less about defining alternative forms of causality but more about addressing a specific polemic on description versus causality in sociology (hence not much scope in the piece for ignoring βcausality revolutionβ, if anything he seems to embrace it)
