You don’t need to sound “Web3.”

Because even in crypto, humans are the ones clicking “Connect Wallet.”
(At least I'm not sure about automations)
So whether you're writing for DeFi, NFTs, or some zk-modular-chain thing...
Ask yourself:
• “Would I click this?”
• “Would I understand this if I was new?”
• “Would I feel safer using this product?”
Good crypto writing isn’t about dumbing down.
It’s about clearing up.
Clarity over cleverness.
Emotion over ego.
Simplicity over noise.
Here’s the truth most Web3 brands forget:
You’re not just explaining a product.
You’re calming fear.
You’re translating risk.
You’re building trust through language.
That shift changed everything.
✅ Higher conversions
✅ More retention
✅ Happier clients
✅ Actual user understanding
Because people don’t trust what they can’t understand.
So I switched it up:
From: "Non-custodial liquidity aggregator"
To: "Move your crypto, without giving up control"
From: "Decentralized yield optimization layer"
To: "Earn more, without staking headaches"
Every word must earn its keep.
Then I realized something:
Simplicity is the highest form of intelligence.
If your grandma can’t understand it, you don’t understand it well enough to write it.
My early copy sounded like this:
"Permissionless protocol enabling frictionless interoperability across cross-chain ecosystems."
Translation?
Even I didn’t know what I was saying.😂
Web3 isn’t just complex.
It’s CHAOTIC tbh.
– New protocols every month
– Unstable narratives
– Unclear regulations
– Users who don’t know what they’re buying
If your writing isn't anchored, it gets drowned in noise.
When I started writing for Web3 startups, I thought I had to sound "smart."
Jargon-heavy. Complex. "Blockchain-native."
Big mistake.

When your copy is cool + clear, people trust you.
They remember you.
And they hire you.
Because everyone wants a vibe,
but nobody wants to be unsure about the offer.
If a 13-year-old can’t understand it, it’s not cool. It’s confusing.
If it makes you feel smart but your reader feels dumb, rewrite it.
Here’s how to sound cool and clear:
– Write like you talk
– Use rhythm, not riddles
– Say one smart thing per sentence
– Use metaphors that hit, not confuse
– Cut 30% of your words
Here’s what bad “cool” copy looks like ):
❌ “Let’s vibe. We do growth. Tap in.”
❌ “From chaos to clarity.”
❌ “Re-imagining possibilities in the everything space.”
What does that even mean?
Writing cool copy ≠ adding slang, emojis, or trendy phrases.
It means writing like a real person,
with clarity, confidence, and edge.
A lot of “vibey” brands make this mistake:
They try to sound clever…
…and forget to be clear.
If your copy makes people pause, it better be from curiosity, not confusion.
Cool copy is dangerous.
Done right, it gets clicks.
Done wrong, it confuses everyone.
